The Gonzaga Bulldogs beat the UCLA Bruins in what was one of the best college basketball games of all time. They advanced to the final of the 2021 March Madness tournament after a historic game-winner from freshman Jalen Suggs.

Fans celebrated this shot across the world, however, a certain analyst couldn’t appreciate it. Skip Bayless, who is well known for criticizing players, branded Suggs’ game-winner as a lucky shot. When Suggs sank the shot, Bayless had his first tweet against it.

Just ten minutes later, he was back with another. Many fans believe that Suggs’ shot is among one of the greatest shots in college basketball history. It came in the Final Four, the second biggest game, and it came against a top opposition. It was also significant because it was a last-second shot in overtime. Despite this, Bayless was sour about it.

Bayless had previously mentioned that he will be supporting the Bruins. Perhaps that is the reason he couldn’t appreciate the shot. He may be unable to see it, but the winner floored almost everyone else watching the game.

Gonzaga Bulldogs’ Jalen Suggs carves his name into March Madness history

The Bulldogs entered the game as the favorites, but they wouldn’t have underestimated the Bruins. They might have been a #11 seed, however, they had just trounced Alabama and Michigan in back-to-back games. So they were a top opponent.

The game was closer than fans would have predicted. They went toe to toe right from the tip-off and it was a battle of two excellent offenses. They traded buckets one after the other, and the game eventually went to overtime. Once again it was neck to neck. With less than ten seconds left, the Bruins equalized after a putback from Johnny Juzang.

Throughout the tournament, the Bulldogs’ star Corey Kispert had been out of form. So with 3.3 seconds left on the clock, Suggs took the ball and charged down the half-court. He shot the ball from the logo, and buried it, before running to the top of the table on the sidelines. The whole team ran behind him as they celebrated a historic game-winner.

The Bulldogs won 93-90 in arguably the greatest game of college basketball. There was no possible better ending for it, and Suggs became a Bulldogs hero after hitting that shot.
