Oklahoma’s head coach recently took a jibe at another basketball coach that left everyone in splits. Who did Moser mock? And was it fair?

Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser reminded the Kansas Jayhawks’ head coach Bill Self of the home-court advantage by cracking a joke on him. The coaches were present at the Big 12 media days at the T-Mobile center on Wednesday.

Moser, with tongue-in-cheek humor, stated, “If I get too close to Bill, someone’s going to call a foul.” Bill also took it in a humorous way and added, “Only at home.” The banter was posted online by newscaster Harold Kuntz on his official social media handle X.

For the unversed, Bill Self has been the head coach of the Kansas Jayhawks’ men’s basketball team since 2003. The Oklahoma-born has led his team to three NCAA Final Four appearances and was also inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017.

At the end of the 2021-22 season, self-ranked at the 18th position among the most winningest coaches in NCAA history. He is the second-most winningest coach in Kansas history, only behind the legendary Phog Allen. The Kansas team is also known to play charity games. But do they have a home-court advantage?

The Jayhawks are known to have a home-court advantage since the establishment of Allen Fieldhouse in 1955. They have emerged triumphant in 87% of their games at home since the opening of Allen Fieldhouse.

They also have two home-court winning streaks of over 50 games under Bill Self. Apart from Allen Fieldhouse, the Kansas men’s basketball team also plays at T-Mobile Center, which is considered a neutral site except when being a part of some tournament or during a series with their rivals Missouri. Meanwhile, the college basketball season will kick off on November 6 with a contest between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Morehead State Eagles. The conference portion of the season will commence after the non-conference season.

The non-conference season begins during the second week of November and ends around the last week of December as per ‘betmgm’.
