In a recent interview, legendary Cheryl Miller embarked on a heartfelt journey down memory lane, fondly reminiscing about two extraordinary teammates who left an indelible mark on her illustrious basketball career.

She firstly talked about Ann Meyers, during which she said, “I believe I was around 13 or 14, watching and just snippets in a little bit of the 1976 women’s Olympic team play and I saw Ann Meyers.” She continued, “(Ann Meyers) diving for everything, every loose ball, every 50 before there was a 50-50 ball, that was her ball and she ran it and she played, she played volleyball, and you know just that and I’m like that’s the one.”

Continuing with her trip down memory lane, Miller introduced another teammate who made a significant impact on her basketball career, Lynette Woodard.

She said, “Then there was Lynette Woodard, who you know, she should have been known more for her college play. She was my teammate on the ’84 Olympic gold medal team and Lynette was that forward who could get to the basket and she had all the moves you know she could finger roll you know and do all these things.”

Despite the absence of three-pointers in their era, Woodard’s ability to score was remarkable. Miller further humorously added, “I was like Steph, I came across half court, you better be guarding me,” reflecting on how in today’s era, Stephen Curry has made his impact.
