When Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark were piquing the interest of masses with their “You Can’t See Me” court antics, Paige Bueckers was quietly watching from sidelines. After 1.5 years of fence-sitting, the UConn Huskies’ pointguard is ready to make a comeback this NCAA season. On the road to recovery, Bueckers even followed the Baby-faced Assassin‘s footsteps.

It was an ACL injury that kept Bueckers out of the court for a long time. But the No. 5 of the UConn Huskies didn’t waste her time. Like Chef Curry, she was well on the course swinging her luck in a second sport.

Paige Bueckers did like Steph Curry

Paige Bueckers has recently been voted the Big East Preseason Player of the Year. Following this, she attended their Big East Conference Media Day. During an interview, a reporter asked her the reason she picked up a golf club this summer. Paige responded, “I watched a lot of former basketball players do it. I watched Steph Curry get a hole in one. Got to Top Golf which is not necessarily the real thing.”

Bueckers lost more than two months of her sophomore year recovering from her knee surgery. But come what may, she found a way to make her spring and summer more productive. She further added, “I wasn’t too bad at Top Golf so then I wanted to try the real thing. I’ve just been practicing and haven’t taken it seriously. I think in my future I could if I get enough practice.”

Paige Bueckers has been unable to play a full season due to her injuries. She could only play 17 games in her sophomore year as she tore her lateral meniscus. Following this, she had a tibial plateau fracture. As a result, her college eligibility was extended by one year. She made a comeback in August and led the Huskies in the national championship game of 2022. Unfortunately, she tore her ACL in that game.
