They kept trying again and again but they were only able to make it past Elite Eight once in the program’s history. This season, however, has seen the NC State Wolfpacks hunt the higher-seeded opponents to reach the Final Four for the first time since 1998. NC State’s journey started as an unranked team. However, their performances throughout the season have impressed everyone in the basketball community. After a remarkable win against Texas last night, the Wolfpack is howling and there’s no looking back for their star Aziaha James.

The tournament has taken a rather surprising turn for the NC State Wolfpack as they made it to the Final Four after 26 years. Today they beat Texas 76-66 in the Elite 8 face-off. The Longhorns are known for their defense, however; the Wolfpack maintained their momentum and kept leading throughout the game.

Interestingly, they played with a limited rotation, with only 7 players suiting up. James did most of the heavy lifting on offense and had some interesting takes in the postgame interview. James said, “I’m so proud of them. You know we work day in, day out since the summer. You know everybody doubted us, we wasn’t even ranked before the season. Now we’re going to the Final Four. It just tells us about ourselves.”

James on how her team cracked the opponents’ famed defense, said, “You got to attack the pressure you know you know it was the back doors cut was doing it for us, uh River ball it was doing for us everybody was just taking turns it was a whole team effort there today.”

Now that they have reached the Final Four, they are about to face the only undefeated team of the season, the South Carolina Gamecocks, whose prowess and versatility can’t simply be put into words now. When James was asked of how they’re gonna prepare, she had an honest answer.

“We’re going to sit on this win for a good two days but then we’re going to go straight to, we’re going to go straight, you know we’re hungry, you know we going to go straight to that game you know, we got to go straight to that game. But you know the SEC play a good defense so you know we got to do the same intensity,” Aziaha said about the challenge posed in front of them by the Gamecocks.

The chemistry of Aziaha James, who is averaging 16.4 ppg this season, and River Baldwin was evident on the court as the duo impressively scored 27 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 16 points and 2 rebounds, respectively. James backed her Sweet 16 performance, when she scored 29, with a game-winning performance against Texas. They will be hoping to continue this success going into the Final Four.

The Wolfpack to face the unbeatable South Carolina
