Micah Handlogten’s path to college basketball success wasn’t straightforward. After averaging 17 points and 13 rebounds as a high school senior, his best Division I offer came from Marshall. His mother, Danielle, though, believed it was more about fate, believing his journey unfolded exactly as it was meant to. “Micah was a late-bloomer,… I’m a believer that God has a plan,” she said. “If Micah had gone to a big school right away, he probably would’ve ended up sitting on the bench.”

As a freshman in 2022-23, Handlogten averaged 7.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game while being named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year. Just after a year, Micah transferred to Florida, and tragedy struck in his first year in Florida. 

Just two minutes into the 2024 SEC championship game, he broke his leg after going up for a rebound, causing him to miss the remainder of the year.
