What Is Cameron Brink’s Relation to Stephen Curry and His Family?

By now we are all familiar with Stephen Curry, his family, his friends, and whatnot. The Curry family legacy is about to be taken to new heights by Steph’s sister. The former Stanford Cardinal women’s basketball forward is Steph’s god-sister. Cameron Brink will be stepping foot in the WNBA and has close family relations with Steph.

Headed toward the 2024 WNBA draft, The 6-foot-4 senior forward dished out an amazing performance in the 2023-24 season. She averaged 17.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. She played three seasons for Southridge High School before finishing her prep career at Mountainside. She was averaging 19.7 points, 12.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 blocks, and 2.4 steals per game as a senior, leading the team to state quarterfinals. She also won two titles from three state championships with Southridge. After high school, she was a five-star talent, rated as the No. 3 player in the country according to both ESPN and HoopGurlz. 

Cameron Brink’s connection to the Curry family

The family connection may not be blood-related but is thicker than blood. Cameron Brink’s parents Michelle and Greg Brink have known Sonya and Dell Curry since each other from their college days. Michelle and Sonya used to play basketball and volleyball respectively and were each other’s roommates. Dell Curry and Greg Brink represented the Virginia Tech Hokies basketball team. Since their Virginia Tech University days, they have been close and imparted the same to their children.

Stephen Curry in 2021 revealed that Greg and Michelle are his godparents. Meanwhile, his parents, Dell and Sonya, are godparents to Cameron. And was happy to see her growth “Oh we uh you know with Cam (Cameron) at uh at Stanford um I’ve seen her since she was a baby. Obviously, her mom and dad’s my godparents you know. it’s it’s pretty awesome to having watched her grow up in the game and watch me and my brother uh play. And seeing her just coming into her own as a as a talented high school prospect and now uh a highly touted you know freshman at Stanford. So just love watching her play love everything about her.

He also revealed he used to sneak to watch her play during her time in Portland, while appreciating that she doesn’t lack in fundamentals and continued using the skills she learned. While she worked on her speed and physicality, Curry was purely excited to see her sister play. He has continued working with her during the off-season since they both stay a few minutes away from each other.

In 2024, she won several accolades including the 2024 Lisa Leslie Award, the 2024 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year, AP All-American First-Team, the 2024 WBCA Coaches’ All-American, the 2024 Pac-12 Player and Defensive Player of the Year, All Pac-12 Team, Pac-12 All-Defensive Team. She and everybody’s eyes are on the WNBA, according to ESPN she is in the top 3 draft picks. With #1 being Caitlin Clark, there is a huge possibility Los Angeles Sparks will pick her second.
