Where is Micah Handlogten from, and What is Micah Handlogten’s Nationality?

Micah Handlogten was born on December 17, 2003, near Lake Norman in Huntersville, North Carolina, where he grew up. As a senior, he played for Coach Rodney Monroe at Southlake Christian Academy, where he averaged 17 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocks per game. He was named to the all-state and all-conference teams twice as a result of his performances. He also played soccer and lacrosse growing up, but basketball was his true calling.

As a freshman, he played at Marshall in the Sun Belt Conference, where he shone. He averaged 7.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game. He was also named the Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year. Micah transferred to Florida for his sophomore year, where he averaged 5.3 points and 6.9 rebounds while shooting .644 from the field in 33 appearances. After an ideal arrival to a new team, Handogten suffered a freak injury against Auburn in the SEC title game.

He broke his leg and had to be carried off the court. After a surgery and rigorous rehab, Micah burned his redshirt last season and returned to the court. “I kind of just had some hesitations when it came to that,” he said. “I’ve just been able to get a lot more confident in myself, and I’ve been playing really well in practice, and I think I’m ready.”The decision turned out to be the right one as Florida and Micah went on to win the National Championship.

He averaged 2.6 points and 4.9 rebounds in 16 games, including four games with eight or more rebounds, a crucial contribution at crunch time. Going into the 2025-26 season, Handlogten is feeling fitter than ever. “I’m hovering right around 260 right now, feeling strong, feeling mobile, which is the biggest thing for me,” Handlogten said. “I wanted to gain strength but keep my mobility, so just to have that now it feels really good.”
