Fulwiley was born in South Carolina on April 21, 2005. Her family includes her mother, Phelliccia Mixon, a Columbia native, and siblings, Jayla and Zyana. Additionally, she was also named the SCBCA 3A player of the year three times in her high school career and the SCBCA 2A player of the year once. All of this initial success, as well as her basketball development, traces back to her mother, Phelliccia Mixon. “My mom definitely was my hero, ” Fulwiley said in an interview. “I just wanted to show how much I appreciate her, just waking up early in the morning for my games. She went as far as quitting her night job, so she can be able to go to my games once I started playing.”

“Just seeing her work so hard and make sure what we got what we wanted by any means necessary just made me want to do it for her any my grandma,” the LSU Tigers guard further added.

What is MiLaysia Fulwiley’s Nationality?

Fulwiley holds American nationality and has proudly represented the country on several occasions. Last year, she was called up to the USA Basketball Women’s 3×3 Nations League. She helped the team to a 14-2 record in the Americas Conference. Additionally, she has also attended 3×3 basketball camps for the national team, while also being a finalist for the Women’s U16 US National team in 2021.

A 5-on-5 call-up hasn’t come for Fulwiley at any level for the national team, yet. But with the numbers she’s producing in her collegiate years, it seems just a year or two wait for her.
