Derrion Reid has once again made headlines when sources revealed his commitment-choice announcement date. He’s reportedly planning to choose among his three final screened colleges next week. This comes after Reid had previously chosen not to reveal his decision. And fans couldn’t have been more excited to know his mind today.

The four-star recruit is likely to announce his decision regarding college basketball commitment on Friday, December 22. Reid had originally planned to announce his decision on October 28th but postponed due to some “unforeseen family circumstance,” as per The Augusta Chronicle through a social media post.

A well-thought out decision

Reid has finalized the Alabama, the Georgia and the Florida State as his final three colleges. The Georgia had proposed their program to the prospective athlete somewhere near June 2021 whereas the Florida State and the Alabama joined the race just four months later. Reid had become quite a player during his days at the Grovetown when helped his team win a championsip only in his sophomore year. During his junior year, the 6-foot-7 baller crossed the 1000 points mark. He was also named as the Region Region 2-AAAAAA player of the year.

Previously, Reid had elaborated on the reason for shortlisting the three colleges. He had revealed that while the coaches at the Alabama had changed, the new coach “picked up where the former coaches left.” He also made clear that he looks to make “an immediate impact” with the Alabama. While he acknowledged that the Florida State had recruited him when he was at “TSF last year” and divulged that his bond with the staff only “became tight.”

When speaking of the Georgia, the small forward was quick to recollect that they had been with him since “the Geico.” Reid remarked that he had visited the college quite many times and had developed a bind with “head coaches the whole staff and the players.”

Reid is famous in the basketball circuits for his tall stature and exemplary running abilities. He has the athleticism both to excel at offense and stonish his opponents during his defense.

Reid possesses an acumen good enough to anticipate the ball and make open spaces for himself. He is also great at being a connector since he easily gets breakthroughs by finding an open teammate. He has a memorable jump shot and had a three-pointer percentage of 37.8% during his time at the EYBL circuit.
