The Iowa Hawkeyes clashed with the Ohio State Buckeyes in their last regular season game at the Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday. The Hawkeyes had an exceptional 25-4 record before the commencement of this game and were placed in the second position in the Big Ten.

The match was special in more ways than one. Firstly, it was the last game of the regular season. Secondly, the contest was on the senior day celebration of Hawkeyes. And the most important reason was that Hawkeye star Caitlin Clark was on her way to becoming the all-time leading scorer of the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball combined.

What were the other preparations for the game?

Clark needed 18 points to surpass the legendary Pete Maravich and become immortal in the college basketball circuit. She had a completely sold-out arena and the support of her fans. Clark even met the WNBA legend, Maya Moore.

Clark was overwhelmed to meet Moore and couldn’t control her emotions. Therefore, the Des Moines star was the center of attention that day. While some fans decided to show their fandom to Clark with their special hoardings, a special fan decided to have a custom Clark puffer jacket which only cemented the fact how much people love Clark.

Fashion designer Kristin Juszczyk decided to roll out a special Clark jacket. It is black in color and has Clark’s name on the back along with her famous number 22. It also commemorated the fact that Clark has recently trumped Kelsey Plum in becoming the NCAA women’s leading scorer. It also sported the Iowa Hawkeyes name which since it was a tribute to Clark and her team.

Another interesting fact to note was that Jake from Statefarm also donned the special vest and pictures of the same made rounds on the internet. It looked as if the entire college basketball circuit and its fans wanted to motivate Clark to achieve the record. Another reason for this could be that Clark recently announced her decision to move to the WNBA 2024. Therefore, this was the last regular season match for Clark in the Hawkeyes jersey.

Hopefully, Clark will break the record and become the all time leading scorer in men’s and women’s basketball combined. As for the match, the game started with the Ohio State Bueckeyes scoring two points in the beginning while the Hawkeyes stand at nil. But the game has just started and Clark will be looking to capture the record with her exceptional skills.
