The NCAA has successfully completed the men and women’s Division I tournaments amid several challenges. While the organization would be relieved about the conclusion of these two mega tournaments, people haven’t forgotten about the episode of inequality that prevailed a few days ago.

A college basketball fan would need little introduction as to what went down with the NCAA. While the men’s and the women’s tournaments were being held simultaneously, they weren’t provided with the same equipment.

An NCAA player took to social media to express her grief over the lack of proper equipment in the weight training room, which instantly went viral on the internet. Consequently, the NCAA installed similar weight training equipment in the women’s bubble, which matched what the men were using in their bubble.

Serena Williams’ husband has a business proposal for the NCAA

There is a lot of concern that the NCAA is not giving women’s basketball the respect it deserves. Fans are agitated that the organization is acting biased when it comes to the men’s game. There are also facts that back up the statement.

The NCAA released never-before known data about the 2019 March Madness tournament. The men’s tournament garnered a huge media deal, while the women’s event did not sell for such a high amount. Moreover, there was a vast difference in viewership as well.

While people are criticizing the NCAA for not promoting the women’s game enough, Serena Williams’ husband and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian recently made a serious business proposition to the NCAA after being outraged by the facts.

“Hey @NCAA can I buy the @ncaawbb from you? Or fund the team to run it independently? Y’all clearly don’t want it,” Ohanian wrote on Twitter.

It is indeed disturbing to see the number gap between the NCAAM and the NCAAW organizations. While the men’s game might be more popular, it should be noted that both genders are putting in equal effort when it comes to competing in games.

Alexis Ohanian has certainly rung a bell with his tweet. He certainly is capable of purchasing the women’s organization from the NCAA, but one can’t be too optimistic about the deal happening.
