Zach’s parents, Glen and Julia Edey welcomed him into the world in 2002. Edey’s mother, Julia is a mechanical engineer with a height of 6 feet and 3 inches. With an impressive height like that, she not only excelled in the field of engineering but also showcased her prowess on the basketball court during her time. She has been Edey’s biggest supporter and cheerleader throughout his basketball career. 

In an interview with CBS Sports, Julia said, “We did not push our kids into any sport. Zach’s dad and I had said ‘If he’s supposed to play basketball, it will find him.'”

Athleticism runs in the family as his younger brother, Doug, is not just only a sibling but is also a fellow sports enthusiast craving his own path. But one question remains, what’s his ethnicity?

Edey was born in Toronto, Canada. His diverse cultural heritage adds an interesting layer to his identity, as his mother was born into a family of Chinese immigrants. However, his father, Glen Edey is Caucasian by ethnicity. This unique blend of backgrounds gives Zach a rich and diverse cultural foundation.

The young prodigy has played a total of eight matches so far in the ongoing 2023-24 NCAA season, out of which he has won seven of them. Zach and the Boilermakers started this season with a match against the Samford Bulldogs. And setting the standard for their upcoming games, they won this match with a final score of 98-45. During this game, Zach alone managed to score 16 points, grab 11 rebounds, make 2 assists, and 4 blocks in only 20 minutes of playing time. 

Seeing this extraordinary performance by the young giant, the fans knew he was a force to be reckoned with. Following this victory, Edey was unstoppable as he won every single match no matter who he played against. Let it be the Gonzaga Bulldogs or the Tennessee Volunteers, he went head-on in the games and won with an average score difference of 21.14 points for his team.
