Damian Ramos enters his 5th year with the Tigers, and he’s been the lone placekicker handling it all for three years. He ranks 10th on the program’s all-time field goals lead and even holds a record for LSU with 129 consecutive PATs made against Baylor in the Texas Bowl. But all of this is not just a result of constant grinding but also Ramos’ unshaken belief in his roots. Let’s dig deeper into it.

Where is Damian Ramos from, and what is Damian Ramos’ nationality?
Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, Damian Rumos already developed a keen interest in playing football. This American kicker was an MA Fall Camp Field Goal Champion back in 2020. And was even named the NC Fall Camp Field Goal Champion at St. Paul’s High School. After that, Ramos entered college, committing to the LSU Tigers. Now, he didn’t see much game action in 2021, as he redshirted. But then he came out strong in 2022 when Ramos started in all 14 games and recorded 1 field goal in 1 of 9 attempts.

During their game against Arkansas that year, he kicked a pair of 38- and 29-yard field goals, then even kicked a 36-yard field goal on the Tigers’ first down and recorded his career-long 47-yard goal against Florida. And the best moment of his career came in Georgia during the SEC Championship Game when he kicked a 32-yard field goal that pushed them to a 17-15 record in the fourth quarter.

But this on-field success is driven by his immense trust in his culture and roots.
What is Damian Ramos’s ethnicity?
LSU’s star kicker is very proud of representing his background both on and off the field. Despite being an American athlete, he has ties with his Mexican heritage, as his LinkedIn bio indicates: “Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, with deep roots in Mexico and some family in Europe, I bring a diverse cultural perspective and international mindset to everything I do.” He doesn’t really mention his faith and culture a lot, but his story highlights how hard work and dedication transformed him from a small-town kicker to a reliable SEC player.
Heading into LSU, the time was pretty tough for Damian Ramos, as they already had a standout kicker, Cade York. So, that time period did take a toll on him, but his faith pushed him through it. “I always had faith and knew what I could do talent-wise,” Ramos said. “I knew I had the potential to play here, and as a kicker, it always comes down to a matter of consistency. Ultimately, the job becomes a you-versus-your-mindset in trying to make kicks.”
Is Damian Ramos Christian?
In making risky decisions, like redshirting himself or striving for peace, he always turns towards God. Even 20 weeks back, Ramos shared his graduation news on IG, but his caption summed it all up very well: “All Glory to God | Toda la gloria a Dios 🎓.” But telling if he’s Christian or not is not that straightforward, as there are no confirmed reports on it.

Now beyond faith and football, he’s also a guy who’s full of life. And his LinkedIn profile states it perfectly: “Beyond the field and the classroom, I enjoy staying active and connected with others, whether it’s being active in internships, playing the piano, or traveling around the world. I’m always excited to meet new people, take on challenges, and explore new opportunities both in sports and in the entrepreneurial world.”
Now, let’s wait and see how this season turns out for Damian Ramos.
