It’s halftime in the Steelers’ wildcard game, and the scoreboard looks uglier than a Monday morning hangover—21-0, with Ravens leading. Lamar Jackson playing like somebody robbed his MVP. Mike Tomlin seems to be doing absolutely nothing but costing the Steelers $37.5 million in liability. And the Steelers fans literally fed up with Mike Tomlin’s winning season blues. While Steelers Nation sulks, the NFL’s chaos king Antonio Brown took matters into his own hands and demanded an NCAA finalist head coach for the Pittsburgh job.
The Pittsburgh Steelers legendary wide-out, Antonio Brown, couldn’t wait for the Ravens-Steelers game to even end before stirring the pot. With Pittsburgh down bad at halftime, AB hit X, declaring, “Next HC of the Pittsburgh Steelers…” alongside a pic of Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman. 2 days after Freeman clowned Kirby Smart’s Georgia squad in the Orange Bowl, AB’s calling for him to take Mike Tomlin’s job. But is AB onto something, or is this just another episode of his Twitter antics?

Look, Mike Tomlin is no scrub—the man’s been holding it down for 18 seasons without a losing record. That’s Hall of Fame-level consistency. The problem is, for Mike Tomlin, having the winning season label is more important than winning a playoff game. The Steelers fans are tired of settling for “good.” Winning seasons doesn’t mean squatting when you keep face-planting in the playoffs. A 10-3 start turned into a wildcard disaster, and now the $37.5M buyout question is louder than ever.
Marcus Freeman’s 2024 campaign at Notre Dame is nothing short of legendary. He didn’t just beat Georgia—he dismantled them. Add wins against Penn State and Indiana, and Freeman’s Fighting Irish are heading to the National Championship against the mighty Ohio State. He’s racked up a 30-8 record in just 3 seasons. No wonder why AB wants him at Pittsburgh.
Antonio Brown isn’t alone in thinking it’s time for a shake-up. The Steelers need a coach who can spark something new, someone exactly like Marcus Freeman. The Notre Dame coach is already being hyped as the future of football—college or NFL. And while Tomlin is still a legend, even legends have expiration dates. The real question is: Will Marcus Freeman make the NFL jump after winning a national chip?
What’s your perspective on:
Is Antonio Brown onto something, or is he just stirring the pot with Steelers fans?
Have an interesting take?
Dan Orlovsky is all in for Marcus Freeman’s NFL Jump
Former Lions QB and NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky couldn’t just stop hyping Freeman. On Thursday, he threw Freeman’s name into the mix for NFL vacancies, specifically eyeing the Dallas Cowboys. “I think they could want to talk to Marcus Freeman. The NFL is trending toward younger coaches.. Marcus Freeman could be a great fit,” Orlovsky said. His reasoning? Freeman’s fresh energy and strategic mind fit the NFL’s younger-coach trend.

But there’s a catch: Freeman’s contract. Notre Dame locked him in with a fat $9M deal through 2031. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible, though. College football contracts are as shaky as a Jenga tower, and the NFL’s allure—especially a high-profile gig like the Steelers—might be too good to pass up.
Aight, let’s not dismiss AB just yet. Sure, his social media track record is messy, and his tweets are diabolical and more entertaining than the Steelers’ offense. But his pick of Freeman isn’t entirely out of left field.

Freeman has teased interest in the NFL before, and Pittsburgh could be a dream fit. Still, it’s a long shot. Freeman’s focused on the National Championship and isn’t publicly entertaining NFL chatter. But if the Steelers front office sees what AB sees, don’t act surprised!
