Deion Sanders called it a “phenomenal game” and he can’t stop praising the young men for the performance. Colorado bounced back from the Week 7 loss against K-State to a strong victory against Arizona as underdogs. And as anyone can expect, gloom hangs over the defeated team.
It’s a sting for Noah Fifita and Arizona to get blown away by a 2.5 underdog. Deion Sanders and Colorado upped their record from last year’s 4-8 to 5-2 so far this season, with the latest Week 8 win. Following the 34-7 heartbreak, the dejected Wildcats QB made a statement shared on X on October 20. He said, “Our culture is still strong and we have to be able to transfer it to football.”

Colorado dominated their road game over Arizona which also marked their best season start record since 2018. 5-2. Wow! But as always, controversy isn’t far behind. Many have slammed the culture of Colorado playing injured players, especially their two-way star. Despite his injury, Travis Hunter entered the game and caught two passes for 17 yards but didn’t play the whole game.

According to a CU spokesperson, Travis Hunter didn’t return in the second half due to preventative measures. We understand he needs to play safe after the injury he incurred in the last game against Kansas State. The misfortune is affecting his performance but it’s better to be able to stay fit and play for the team than force the limits and stay out of several games. Hunter is already in danger of dropping out of the Heisman race.
Deion Sanders lauds his team after win
One bizarre thing that surfaced following Travis Hunter’s injury is the criticism hurled towards Deion Sanders for playing him both ways. Both fans and analysts have called out the Buffs HC for endangering the life of this elite talent by exposing him to increased possible injuries. For the record, through Week 7, Hunter played 620 snaps out of about 689 snaps. Talk about the high possibility of getting injured!

But thankfully, everyone seems to be in precautionary mode. Travis Hunter didn’t make much news in the last game but the Buffs were able to dominate in every aspect of the game. In his post-game speech, Deion Sanders said, “Offense, defense, collectively, both units played great… They called a phenomenal game, social teams as well.” This shows that Deion Sanders and Colorado are growing, putting them toward their conference title aspirations.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Deion Sanders pushing players too hard, or is this the grit Colorado needs to win?
