You probably already know the name of Tristen Keys. LSU’s prized class of 2026 WR commit. Ranked No. 4 nationally by 247Sports. Higher than Miami OT commit Jackson Cantwell and even the No. 1 QB in the class, Jared Curtis, who committed to Georgia. This 5-star phenom is that good, and he’s living every high school recruit’s dream. And now, his little brother is joining the ride too.
Tristen Keys’ little brother, Omari Smith, just pulled in his first college football offer. And not just from any school. “#AGTG I am extremely blessed to receive my first offer from the University Of Tennessee,” he wrote on May 16 on his new X account he just created this March, tagging WR coach Kelsey Pope. Yes, it’s Josh Heupel and the Vols, LSU’s SEC rival. They just got an early lead on recruiting a 14-year-old eighth grader. That’s right. Class of 2029, 6’2, 159 pounds, and already flashing signs that he might be even more versatile than his big bro. He listed himself as an ATH.

When Omari Smith posted the news, Tristen Keys was all heart. “Prouda you baby brother more to come❤️#GodsPlan #MyBrothersKeeper,” he wrote on X. Both brothers play at the same school, Hattiesburg (Missouri) High School. And while it’s still early, this kind of offer at 14? That’s next-gen type buzz. And you can’t be surprised if Brian Kelly and the Tigers jump on this hype train soon. You know how programs love family pipelines. Especially when the older brother is literally your future WR1.
Earlier this year, Tristen Keys turned down powerhouses like Ole Miss, Alabama, Miami, and even Tennessee to commit to LSU on March 19. It’s a bold move, but the kid’s got a plan. “They do great things on and off the field. Great coaching staff,” he told Bryce Koon of Geaux247. “They do a good job producing top receivers. They did a pretty good job in the draft last year, both of them. Top receivers had 1,000 yards each… That’s something I want to be a part of.” He saw what Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. did and where they got drafted in the 2024 NFL draft, and probably thought, ‘yeah, that’s going to be me.’ He’s already a diamond in the rough, and LSU’s offense can sharpen his skills.

Tristen Keys is locked in on the Tigers
Last year alone, Tristen Keys put up 1,275 receiving yards and 14 TDs in 58 catches while leading Hattiesburg to the MHSAA Class 6A title game. Now, the 6’2, 185-pounder is envisioning himself donning that LSU purple and gold for the next level. “Once a Tiger, always a Tiger. I have been a Tiger all my life,” he said. “In the next level, looks like I’m gonna be a Tiger, so I’m happy to… have this opportunity and am blessed to go to the next level and a big program at LSU, so I am ready for it.”
As Brian Kelly enters Year 4, there’s a different energy around LSU. The 2026 roster’s got studs—Richard Anderson, Havon Finney, Jabari Mack, Brysten Martinez, Aiden Hall, Dylan Purter, Kenny Darby, and Jalan Chapman. And now the WR room is shaping up to be something special. Tristen Keys might be the spark that lights up Baton Rouge. And with his brother already on radar, they could be building something to last.
