Ashton Jeanty, the 2024 Heisman hopeful, is back in the news. But is it good news or bad? Well, it’s a mixed bag. The good news is that he upped his Heisman odds by accomplishing a rare FBS feat in Boise State’s game against Wyoming. And the bad news is that he may be challenged to accomplish more of his Heisman hype.

Ashton Jeanty entered Week 13 with 1,893 yards and 26 touchdowns, looking to break a record. But in their hunt for their ninth winning streak against Wyoming, he went down with an injury! As College Football Report posted on X on November 23, Ashton Jeanty suffered a leg injury and “appears to be in pain in the field.” He limped off to the medical tent following the collision.

Ashton Jeanty’s ability to break through tackles sets him apart, but it also makes him a prime target for opponents. It was late in the third quarter, with the score tied at 10-10. The Boise State star RB received a hard tackle to the legs that left him in pain. Following the situation, Jeanty exited the game and appeared again in the fourth quarter.

Ashton Jeanty didn’t re-enter the game, however. He watched his team from the sidelines, feeding more anxiety to fans about his injury status. HC Spencer Danielson later described his star player as “banged up.” Call it lucky or unlucky, but the Heisman favorite was able to pull off a remarkable feat before this unfortunate incident occurred.

Ashton Jeanty surpasses the 2,000 rushing yard mark

Ashton Jeanty made history in Saturday’s game. In the first half alone, he had 10 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown. With a 5-yard carry in the third quarter, he surpassed the 2,000 rushing yards mark of the season. With this record, he’s the first FBS player since 2019 to rack up 2000+ rushing yards in a season, joining Chuba Hubbard and three other RBs in this incredible feat.
