The Las Vegas Raiders have full belief in their sixth overall selection. You see, first-rounders are usually the ones to sign last, but Ashton Jeanty is an exception. As the first RB taken off the board, he signed a fully guaranteed 4-year contract worth $35.895 million, including a whopping $22.75 million signing bonus. He’s now the 11th highest-paid RB in the NFL before even taking a snap in black and gold. 

Ashton Jeanty’s cap hit for 2025 is a little over $6.5 million. The Raiders are betting big. But it makes sense when you remember what he did last season as a junior. His 2,601 rushing yards nearly dethroned Barry Sanders’ all-time single-season FBS rushing record. His 29 rushing TDs were the second-most in the NCAA, and his 14 games with 100+ rushing yards are another FBS record. That’s legendary stuff.

The Raiders’ new GM John Spytek is very high on Ashton Jeanty. “It’s one of those deals where it meets the needs and the best player meet together,” he said of the Raiders picking the RB. “You kind of feel like that’s a perfect storm at that point too and it’s just too much to ignore at that point. He’s the perfect player for us this year, and we were thrilled to make him a Raider.” Hopefully, he’ll be able to emulate the same explosiveness in the pro league.
