Kalen DeBoer leaves imprints wherever he goes! After replacing the GOAT coach Nick Saban at Alabama amidst high pressure, he displayed his dominance and winning culture through four games, even beating SEC leader Georgia in the last game. But putting Alabama aside, he gets a shout-out as his past glory comes to crown him with an elite honor.

Despite being an Auburn alum, ESPN analyst Cole Cubelic always had respect for Kalen DeBoer. He believes that even without Nick Saban, Alabama is in good hands under the former Washington Huskies HC. As his X post on October 4 revealed, he met up with Kalen DeBoer and delivered his Joe Moore Award.

Kalen DeBoer coached the Huskies for two seasons in 2022 and 2023. Last year, he led his team to an undefeated season with 13 wins and appeared in the National Championship game against Michigan which they ultimately lost. Still, their impressive season performance earned them the prestigious Joe Moore Award 2023 for the Most Outstanding Offensive Line Unit in College Football.
Washington becomes the first and last team from the Pac-12 to win this honor before their transition to the Big Ten. The Huskies finished the season with their O-line ranking No. 5 in fewest sacks allowed with just 11 sacks in 13 games. They also led the nation in passing offense at No. 2 and No. 10 in scoring offense. And now, Kalen DeBoer seems to have brought that winning culture to Alabama as the successor of the GOAT.

Kalen DeBoer riding on fans’ expectations
Right from his debut game in Alabama against Western Kentucky, Kalen DeBoer broke Nick Saban’s record from 16 years ago when he defeated Western Carolina 52-6 in his first game in Tuscaloosa. The new HC displayed dominance with a strong 63-0 blowout of WKU in Week 1. Dominant wins followed with the last 41-34 victory against Georgia to close off an undefeated first month of their regular season.
Thanks to valuable weapons like QB Jalen Milroe and WR Ryan Williams, Kalen DeBoer isn’t giving fans much reason to brood over Saban’s absence. He also upped Alabama’s game by taking over the Bulldogs to become the No. 1 CFB team per AP Poll’s rankings through Week 6. Their next conference game is set against Vanderbilt who is coming off a double OT loss to Missouri. A great chance to win. But they’ll get a chance to truly prove themselves in the upcoming games with four ranked teams.
