Little did Bill Belichick know he would be answering for Jordon Hudson just months after taking up his first college football job! The drama began early on. In March, the new North Carolina HC requested all emails between him and Robbi Pickeral Evans, the Tar Heels’ senior Associate AD for External Affairs and Strategic Communications, to be CC’ed to his girlfriend. Then there was a curious “Hard Knocks”-style docuseries fallout between UNC and NFL Films. And who can forget that strange CBS Sunday Morning interview where she was a “constant presence”? So now, it’s time for the 73-year-old to give his side of the story.
Bill Belichick hopped on The Pivot Podcast on May 16 to drop a bombshell on Jordon Hudson’s influence on his new book, called the Art of Winning. He acknowledged his 24-year-old GF as his “creative muse.” And when host Ryan Clark asked why, he said, “Because she had a lot to do with it. One of the great ideas that she came up with is when I was writing the acknowledgements and kind of tribute to coach Parcells, Lawrence Taylor, Tom Brady, my dad—four people that really meant a lot to me in my life, she came up with the idea of ‘why don’t you give them their page?’” Bill Belichick also explained how Jordon Hudson asked him to make adjustments in some of his “technical” lines so that it would be more appealing to average readers.

But when Bill Belichick was asked about the interruption in his CBS interview, he defended her, stating, “What she does helps me spend my time on football, and that’s what’s important to me.” A little more probing there with the question—“What are her actual job responsibilities?”

“Well, nothing with North Carolina. That would be number one,” Belichick said. “It would be personal opportunities. Could be a speaking thing. Could be an appearance on this or talk about that. Or somebody wants whatever it happens to be, autographs or that type of thing and so she kind of help organize that for me,” Belichick said.
Bill Belichick also came clean on the email CC narrative, and it’s not because she’s part of the program. But “because there was nobody,” he said. “We didn’t have a sports information guy. That was taken because all the emails are shared and publicly that was taken as Jordon’s run in the sports information department… There was nobody to help me sort them out so I was asking her to do that.”
And about the Hard Knocks, that was a source of excitement for UNC. It was later revealed that the two sides “couldn’t reach an agreement.” Per The Athletic, Jordon Hudson allegedly wanted to be “heavily involved.” But Bill Belichick downplayed it, saying, “The Hard Knocks thing, just for the record, Hard Knocks is training camp.”
He added, “We’re not training camp… We’re a season, and they don’t want that. There’s film issues too, but forget about the film issues. Just say you can straighten all those out, the Hard Knocks just didn’t fit for us.” But wait, there’s more.

Is Bill Belichick putting his family in panic mode with Jordon Hudson?
The clarifications came amid a viral development stemming from former ESPN insider Pablo Torre claiming that the Belichick family is digging into Jordon Hudson from alleged panic. “They are panicked that the thing that their family—that he has built as the patriarch of his family—the ‘Logan Roy’ of their Succession story, that it’s being incinerated by a 24-year-old, who doesn’t know what she’s doing,” Torre told 98.5 The Sports Hub. “They’re freaked out. I mean, look, as a human, as a human level—concern. Imagine it, right? Like hold on, your 70-year-old dad shows up on a leaked Ring cam video, shirtless.”
Torre even predicted Bill Belichick would be gone from Chapel Hill before Week 1 of the regular season, but would he? After all, he has a strong family connection with the Tar Heels, as he told Michael Strahan on Good Morning America.
He talked about following in his father, Steve Belichick’s footsteps, coaching in college football. He spent three years at UNC working with young athletes starting in 1949. “It really feels great,” he said of following his father’s legacy. “I learned a lot there, and so it’s great to be in college working with young kids.” That moment should’ve been the headline.
