Suddenly, we shifted the attention from the insane counts of touchdowns, total yards, and the gruesome battle on the gridiron reflected on a scoreboard to the transfer portal, roster revamp, and conference revamp in some cases. Welcome to a thrilling off-season! Recently, ACC made the headlines by pulling a flabbergasting media rights deal with ESPN. But things have yet to settle on the ongoing conference battle. Schools like FSU, Miami, and Notre Dame still seem to be vying for a spot at B1G. They are walking firmly toward their goals as national analysts see no misalignment in the process. But it’s no good news for Bill Belichick in North Carolina.

A few months back, popular perception suggested the Big 10 would be a big yes for adding North Carolina over Clemson. Paul Finebaum added fuel to the rumor after a school trustee propagated the idea of the Tar Heels leaving ACC for a more profitable deal on the table. Now, the Big Mountain podcast host  JY broke the bubble, saying that one of the most elite conferences out there has reasons to sleep on the Tar Heels at large. ‘‘North Carolina has dropped for a couple of reasons, first, they don’t draw the TV eyeballs in football, they don’t want to get involved in the political issues, and third reason is they don’t want to mess with any ongoing litigation issues,” JY noted.

”Florida State was the number one target no matter if you were under the old Kevin Warren way of doing things or the Tony Petitti’, get Florida State in the match, then some of the big programs, the big state schools, big flagship public universities in the Big 10 get big ratings you know Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, you want Florida State playing these schools,” JY added taking Florida State into the potential joined lists. Well, sure, FSU enhances media exposure, rich resources, and rich contact, and the schedule will give Norvell an edge over the competitors. but it’s not a one-way convenience, by the way. FSU’s athletic program and solid academic ground would be an asset to any conference. But ahead of expecting any decisive move, the Seminoles make sure to close their ACC battle.

There has been one more top ACC school on the high B1G consideration line. JY continued dropping milieus, ”Miami emerged a little bit two years ago under Kevin Warren, I would have said Miami doesn’t have a chance you know they got an AA membership and we did a breakdown this last year, and their TV ratings really started to climb and do better, so again, Miami definitely has an opportunity. I think Big 10 eventually get both if they get them.” Tony Petitti’s luck roams around the two big fishes in the bowl.

So, how much will it boost Miami and Florida State financially?

Miami and Florida State can expect a big financial push if they join the B1G

The Big Ten is considered one of the richest in financing their athletic departments, They are supposed to dish away anywhere from $80 to $100 million per year to all 16 members. However, this number is subject to fluctuation depending on the new members’ addition. With the USC Trojans and UCLA Bruins on the board from 2024, there might be a slight change. But as a whole, it’s a 100M figure that the team can expect if they jump ship in 2025.

The future of their TV deal is significantly high. The 7 billion contract spanning over 7 years starting from 2023 allows the program to serve the students in a highly productive environment that fosters a world-class education, a good competitive edge in the athletic and the most influential NIL market.

When this deal was completed, then-Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren was absolutely thrilled, envisioning a dream conference he always wanted. If everything goes right and B1G continues to expand its horizon with more wise and witty business master moves, it’s not unfathomable to see them turn into a super conference, generating more inflow and outflow of money and talents.
