Sam Pittman was among the top coaches who fans wanted to see fired. The axe came down for him ultimately after logging in his 3 straight loss in the season. Notre Dame thrashed Arkansas 56-13. Moreover, Pittman was yet to begin conference play, and was already 2-3 in the season. That’s what forced Arkansas athletics to make the inevitable call. Bobby Petrino now takes charge of this troubled ship, who is back at the top for the second time in his career.

Petrino came back to Arkansas as OC in 2021. Before that, he’d been with the Razorbacks from 2008 to 2012 as HC, and had delivered two strong seasons in the end. But an embarrassing scandal showed him out of Fayetteville promptly. Petrino has improved things in the offense as OC, averaging 552 yards per game before the Notre Dame clash. He seems primed to be the HC of the struggling program. In his long career across college football, Petrino has amassed a lot of financial value.

What is Bobby Petrino’s Net Worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Bobby Petrino is estimated to have a net worth of $18 million. However, based on his records from USA Today, he might have earned more than $31 million. The coach has spent more than 40 years in football coaching, and has even been to the NFL. He started out on the NAIA level with Carroll College, moved to FCS with Weber State, and made it to the FBS with Arizona State. Petrino unfortunately couldn’t make it big in the NFL, resigning from Atlanta Falcons after going 3-10 in 2007. But this huge net worth shows that Petrino can be a productive staffer, provided he’s in the right circumstances.

Bobby Petrino’s Contract Breakdown and Salary

The interim HC signed a 2-year contract with Arkansas in 2023. Per initial reports, he was set to earn $1.6 million each year, and had a plethora of incentives and provision. If Arkansas made an SEC championship berth, Petrino was getting half a month’s worth of his salary as an add-on. The stakes rose when it came to post season achievements. Winning the National Championship would bring him an extra 3-month’s worth of his salary, while reaching the game would give him 2 months’ worth of pay. Appearances in the semifinal game would get him 1.75 month’s worth. A bowl game would mean 1 month’s pay as extra, while a Citrus Bowl appearance would raise it to that of $1.25 months.

Bobby Petrino’s perks at Fayetteville included a country club membership, tickets to home games, and $7,200 in car allowance. He also has an Nike Elite membership worth $2,000 as allowance from the program. Petrino produced some good returns in the 2024 season on the offense, ranking 10th in the country in total offense.

The results of his hard work were able to negotiate an extension for this contract, which Petrino signed in 2025. Bobby Petrino earned $1.5 million as salary for the 2024 season. But Petrino is already on a good record with his offense in the FBS. Per the extension, he is still slated to earn $1.6 million this year. Petrino will earn extra if he scores brownie points in the season. If the Razorbacks tally 7 regular-season wins in the season, he will get a bonus of $100,000. The number continues to grow if more regular-season wins follow.

Bobby Petrino’s Career Earnings

Bobby Petrino‘s available records of payment on USA Today go back to 2005. It shows that Petrino earned $1.75 million in his last season with Louisville in 2006. It’s higher than his slated pay at Arkansas now. But when he took over the Razorbacks in 2008, his earnings shot up. In the first season, Petrino was paid $2.85 million. He ultimately ended that short run with a total of roughly $9.1 million, based on available records on USA Today.

Bobby Petrino was then fired after  an uproar over his scandal, which caused his value to take some hits. He was hired by Western Kentucky next, who paid him $855,600 for his lone season here. Petrino then came back to Louisville, where he earned an approximate total of $17.7 million after 5 seasons. He also made a stop at Texas A&M for one season afterwards, where he earned $1.4 million. In 2024, Bobby Petrino earned $1.5 million.

The interim HC is now tasked with taking Arkansas through SEC play, while also keeping losses at a minimum. This is, of course, not his first rodeo with the Razorbacks, having been here before. He was in fact, already making a pitch for himself to replace Pittman as the decision neared. Petrino has produced winning seasons with double digits in that first run at Fayetteville. Will he be able to recreate any of that success in 2025?
