Just when it seemed the Buckeyes had their roster for the future locked in, HC Ryan Day might be plotting another surprise move that could shake up the 2026 recruiting landscape. New reports suggest that the jigsaw piece for his 2026 team includes a highly sought-after linebacker currently committed to Wake Forest. And with the LB confirming the interest, it seems like Ohio State is one up in the race.

It is no secret that Ryan Day’s team is playing like they are going to win another national championship this season. Plus, he wants to build a dynasty in Columbus. A great way of doing so is by recruiting exciting new prospects, and that is exactly what he is doing for LB Braxton Rembert. Part of the 2026 class, he has already committed to Wake Forest. And now reports suggest that he will be attending Ohio State’s game against UCLA on November 15, amid the interest. This shows positive signs for OSU.

“It’s an honor to be considered by one of the top teams,” expressed Braxton Rembert when addressing Ohio State’s interest in him. Earning recognition from programs of OSU’s caliber says a lot about Braxton Rembert’s talent. His 42 tackles, including nine for loss and nine sacks, in just eight games this season explain why Ryan Day is so interested in wooing the linebacker to Columbus. And it seems like Braxton Rembert is also interested in the opportunity. He made it clear that he loves the culture around the team.

“OSU is a place where it is eat or be eaten. They have dogs all over the place. (Look at) The coaching staff, for example, Coach Laurinaitis. His resume speaks for itself,” said Braxton. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound athlete is from the same high school, Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, that produced Buckeyes safety Caleb Downs. After joining Ohio State from the Crimson Tide, he has been putting on a defensive masterclass. In the current season, he has 34 total tackles (24 solo) and 1 interception.

Currently # 67, the young LB also admitted that he doesn’t know Downs personally but thinks it’s cool to see someone from his high school have success at the next level. Following in his footsteps, Braxton Rembert could become another standout performer from his alma mater. Now, Day knows that the young LB already committed to Wake Forest in June. Ohio State will look to pursue him before the December Early Signing Period ends.

Another season, same old story for Ryan Day’s Ohio State

Ohio continued its winning ways, coming into the eighth week of the season, whooping Wisconsin 34-0 away from home. They have a 7-0 record, and it does not feel like they are going to stop anytime soon. QB Julian Sayin has been pulling the strings in the center. He has completed 156 of 195 passes for 1,872 yards, which is an exceptional 80% completion rate. Now add that to his 19 touchdowns this season, and you get a sense of how dominant the offense has been for Ohio State so far.

WR Jeremiah Smith is another individual who has been at the top of his game this season so far. He leads the team in receiving yards with 602 yards and has scored 7 receiving TDs. He stretches the opposition defense while Julian Saying passes with pinpoint passes, making them a double-threat for any team that faces them. With the way they have been playing, another national championship could be on the cards.

They could very likely reach the playoff stage without incurring a defeat. Next, they face Penn State at home, which could be smooth sailing for the Buckeyes. With the way PSU has been playing this season, it is highly unlikely they could pose any threat to Ohio State.
