The August 30 clash between No. 6 Clemson and No. 9 LSU at Memorial Stadium will be a full-circle rematch of the 2020 championship game, not just a top-10 matchup. Back then, in a 42–25 win, Joe Burrow and LSU stunned Clemson. Five years later, Cade Klubnik wants to rewrite the script. And there’s genuine hype around the program. ESPN’s Field Yates describes Klubnik as a “very good leader, very good processor” and predicts that Clemson will “handle business” against LSU. But, ahead of the kickoff, Klubnik’s girlfriend turned heads with her gameday IG story.

With Clemson’s big opener on Saturday, Cade Klubnik’s girlfriend, Macey Matthews, is all in. She set the tone with an IG story that shows off Tiger pride before Cade Klubnik even took his first snap of the 2025 season. Her balcony was more than just a balcony; with orange and white banners hanging across it, it looked like a mini Memorial Stadium. She captioned it, “First home game!!!” It seemed like the kind of enthusiasm that only a true fan and a QB1’s girlfriend can showcase.

Macey didn’t stop with the team banner on her balcony. The focus of her next story shifted from decor to details, showcasing her personal game day look. She pulled off a layered necklace with a cute white and orange floral-printed dress. Just a subtle hint that she’s game-ready in her own way. Her caption, which referred to her jewelry as a “game day essential,” was what truly caught fans’ attention.

It conveyed the idea that these small customs are just as important as the games played. Macey sees support as more than just wearing white and orange; it’s about blending her own style and individuality into the college football Saturdays. But the best part? Beyond jewelry and banners, what matters the most is Macey’s love and support for Klubnik. With him stepping into a season full of Heisman buzz and NFL eyes, having that kind of love is what every player needs.

Cade Klubnik and Macey Matthews’ love story

Cade Klubnik and Macey Matthews are not just a college football power couple; they are actually high school sweethearts. The story began back in middle school, when Macey cheered Cade on during his very first game. “It is pretty funny to think that I was a cheerleader at his very first middle school game, so I have got to see him grow as a player throughout the majority of his career. We have a text from sixth grade where Cade told me that he wanted to play varsity football just like his brother and maybe have the opportunity to play in college,” she shared.

At Austin’s Westlake High, where Macey was still cheering in the stands and Cade was the quarterback, their friendship took off. Before they started dating in the fall of 2019, they were just friends, then best friends, and they have been together ever since. Macey began her own career in business and marketing when Cade left for Clemson. Yet she has never stopped supporting him through stands. “Cade has always had a natural gift for the game, but I truly believe that it is his trust and identity in the Lord and his passion to be better every day that led him to where he is now,” she said.

Also, Klubnik has never shied away from praising Macey for her support throughout: “It has helped me so much to just have someone that supports you through all your ups and downs, whether state championships or the loss of a friend. She has been there for me every step of the way and has just always been an amazing influence on how to handle situations through Christ,” he said. Together their love story is more than just football; its about growing and chasing dreams together.
