Georgia won against Florida in a 34-20 victory. But fans aren’t happy with QB Carson Beck for his lackluster performance. He completed 25 of 40 passes for 309 yards and two touchdowns. But he got picked off three times. The Bulldogs star had a rough night, with two of his interceptions in the first half giving the Gators a 13-6 halftime lead.

Angry fans are ranting on social media after No. 2 Georgia faced pressure against a struggling team that is now 4-4 into the season. Following the game, the disappointment was not unexpected. A fan wrote on X on November 3, “This is NOT the Carson Beck from last year!!! He’s not as hungry as last year!!!!! Something has to change!!!!!!

Let’s consider the circumstances. Georgia is the top 2 CFB program in the nation, entering Week 10 with a 7-1 record. They have an elite QB in Carson Beck who is a Heisman Trophy contender. On the other hand, Billy Napier and Florida had been struggling this season, particularly with their QBs. The Gators lost their starting QB, Graham Mertz, in Week 7 in a season-ending injury. So Florida was forced to rely on two freshman QBs, DJ Lagway and Aidan Warner, with Warner stepping in after Lagway’s injury.

DJ Lagway’s injury became a topic on its own, with many Gators fans suggesting that Florida would’ve won if their QB remained healthy. Now, that kind of praise for the 19-year-old freshman QB is like rubbing salt in Beck’s wounds, who suffered a stagnant first half completing 13 of 25 passes for 167 yards. See what fans are saying behind his back.

Fans give Carson Beck a bitter pill to swallow

After what happened in the last game, the question is: should Carson Beck be benched? A fan wrote, I almost started an international incident at this bar in Iceland when Carson Beck rolled his eyes at Kirby Smart. MFer throws 3 interceptions, was crying on the bench, and rolls his eyes at Kirby?! Georgia is winning in spite of the worst QB play of the Kirby Smart Era. He should be benched.” Fans notice every little detail.

The blame continued as another fan chimed in their opinion. They wrote, “Yes. If Georgia had any other QB it would’ve been a blow out. Almost every single one of your points was from Carson Beck turnovers. Not even close.” But what if Georgia really benches him?

Does Carson Beck have impactful backups? This brings us to Kirby Smart’s not-so-smart choice of not recruiting a worthy backup for Beck. Listen to what this fan had to say. “Take away from today is Carson Beck isn’t good. And us not benching him shows me we don’t have s-it on the bench either. Kirby better recruit some QBs.” The first in line for the QB role after Beck is redshirt sophomore Gunner Stockton, who made a sole appearance this season in the Week 2 game against Tennessee Tech, where he recorded 90 yards. But a change in the QB isn’t likely.

Still, the pressure that Carson Beck carries is real. See what this fan thinks about him—“Georgia fans bouta start crying when Carson “Heisman candidate” Beck costs them a spot in the playoff with losses to Ole Miss and Tennessee.” Right. Georgia has two more ranked matches against the No. 18 Rebels and No. 7 Volunteers on their schedule before closing the regular season with a game against Massachusetts and Georgia Tech. Can we expect a different QB in their next clash with Ole Miss on November 9?
