Heisman-favorite Carson Beck delivers amazing performance against South Florida.
Say what you want about Carson Beck, but you have to give it up for the way he is playing at Miami. After the SEC championship game last year, his future seemed to be in jeopardy. The offseason was a brutal time for him, as Beck dealt with intense hate from trolls. The bigger issue was his comeback after a nasty elbow injury. “I knew I was done,” he told ESPN’s College GameDay, after that season-ending blow last year. One member of the Beck family emotionally noted the journey Carson has had so far.

In all of Mario Cristobal’s years at Miami, Carson Beck was one of his biggest gambles. He took in the QB when there was little hope of him ever going back to his elite form from 2023. Before the injury, too, Beck hauled in a load of glaring stats in his last year at Georgia. However, all hopes of reclamation at Athens ended when the QB took the hit. Kylie Beck shared a clip of College GameDay’s feature of the QB and his return to the gridiron, which highlighted this moment.
She also said she was in “[tears]” watching how Carson Beck has fought back. “Now, this is charisma, this is strength, this is passion, this is a fighter, this is resiliency, this is courage, this is never giving up… this is God,” she added along with the clip. That moment was also painful for Beck’s mother, Tracy, who was crying after Carson hurt his elbow in that game. From then till now, it’s been nothing short of a backbreaking climb to redemption for Carson Beck.

“I didn’t know if I was ever going to be able to throw a football the way that I did before again. They always say that you’re one play away, and you don’t believe it until it’s you,” Beck told College GameDay. He underwent surgery for the UCL damage in December last year and joined Miami for practice in the summer. That’s not an easy timeline for coming back to a sport this demanding. But Cristobal’s gamble on Carson Beck is paying off, big time. Some things need cleaning up, but the QB is at a far better level now than he was last year.

“Is there a fire? You are damn right there is a fire, and that comes out when we have our talks,” Miami OC Shannon Dawson said of Carson Beck’s attitude. This is the QB’s final dance with college football. He needs to go big to get back into the chatter of being a top-round pick. After all, he’s been there. Kylie Beck backed up her brother with more encouraging thoughts as he navigated this crucial year of his career.
Kylie Beck called out fans’ lack of empathy for Carson
Carson Beck’s family has been a rock-solid wall during the offseason. Kylie, in particular, was quick to attack the wave of hate that came for her brother. She stood by him when he needed it and is doing the same as he turns those haters into admirers. “Proof that you NEVER ever know what someone is going through behind the scenes… people are so quick to judge and so slow to be empathetic!!” she said in her message for the fans.

Kylie has been a constant source of support for Carson, more so during the dark few months of this offseason. His move to Miami, the frenzy behind his relationship with Hanna Cavinder, and his own personal drop in his career had fans throwing digs at the QB left and right. Kylie was on the front line against all of that, while Carson focused on his comeback in 2025. 2024 seems to be well in the past for the star QB, who can rightfully carry that label now.

Is Carson Beck's comeback the ultimate underdog story, or just another chapter in his career?

Carson Beck is back in the conversations he fell out of last year, as he works his way back to the top this season. Before the opener, he was the Miami fans’ biggest doubt. He joined the practice late and became unproven at Georgia. But so far into the Hurricanes’ campaign, he looks like a QB that was born to be there.
