Where there’s Sanders, there’s controversy. No other way to put it better. People barely get sick of calling out Coach Prime for favoring his sons, Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders. And even if they do, they quickly shift gears to criticizing the media for giving all the spotlight to $45 million Deion Sanders and his legendary bloodline. However, they are not totally wrong, as the signature Buffs coach has always been the pivot of the college football world ever since he stepped into Boulder. Tonight, Shedeur Sanders takes all the heat from the anti-Sanders community for owning an award. Thanks to Miami Hurricanes’ poster boy Cam Ward’s rising numbers and fame.

The best Ward has done was to lead the CFB realm in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and passing accuracy. The way he puts his high on each game in the Miami jersey makes it hard to unsee him. Ward, in his first season at Miami, has smashed the record for most touchdown passes in a season. He still has his chance to add to the stacks, as the Miami Hurricanes will suit up against Syracuse this Saturday. A win will get them to the ticket of the ACC Championship Game against SMU. But one slip against Georgia Tech wreaked havoc on his Heisman hope.

He put on a pretty decent performance against Georgia Tech, throwing for over 300 yards and having three touchdowns and no interceptions. But a collective offensive and defensive block made things bad for the stupendous QB. He is no longer mentioned in the Heisman favorites list. You can blame it on his team’s single loss, but the reality stretches beyond. The Heisman committee is already dealing with the bias flakes. Now, to add to the chaos, Shedeur Sanders grabbed a prize, the coveted Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award for the year. It did nothing but add fuel to the fire in Cam Wad fans’ valid frustration.

No doubt that Shedeur has been incredible this season. Amassing 303 of 413 passes (73.4%) for 3,448 yards and 30 touchdowns and just seven interceptions in an 11-game stretch isn’t a joke. But fans have Cam Ward’s heavier stats as a strong argument.

Fans raised their voices against Cam Ward getting robbed of an award

Ward has rushed for 300 yards in most of the games except for two and has touched the 400-yard milestone three times. Don’t get blown away yet. There is more to his plate. The QB has maintained a 700 completion percentage four times. He also racked up 177 yards and four TDs rushing. If his team continues to deliver in week 14 and cliches a trip to Atlanta, Cam will be at his career-high juncture.

Fans legit see no point in handing an athlete a trophy when the season is still young. ”Again, Cam Ward’s disrespect is WILD. Also, why are awards given out before the regular season is even finished?’‘: a fan holds the award committee at gunpoint. Another one pointed out Ward’s heavier stats to back up their grievances, noting, ”Cam Ward has more yards, TDs, the same amount of turnovers and the No. 1 QBR in the nation.”

The trophy, however, doesn’t just have one criteria-based approach. It judges the off-field excellence (academics, character, etc.) as well. Shedeur gets a plus in those areas, whereas Ward’s hold in the same would be a subject of research. But fans’ sentiments defy all the logic. They continued to vent with comments like, ”

Cam Ward would like a word”, ”Cam Ward snubbed.” etc. One user asked this outright, ‘How did he win this over Cam Ward?”

The answers remain in the dark with the man in the pivot of the debate, Cam Ward, probably breaking a sweat in rigorous practice seasons for the crucial final stretch.
