Week 5 of the college football season is already underway, but it’s not until Saturday that we get to some of the big-hitter matchups. A red-hot Florida team travels to Missouri for another top-25 matchup. At the same time, a pesky Auburn team makes its way to Knoxville to do battle with No. 17 Tennessee. Then later that night, No. 4 Miami travels to take on Clemson while No. Texas Tech makes a trip north to meet Deion Sanders’ Colorado team.

This should be a very entertaining week of college football, so here are some predictions for this Saturday’s games. And if you want to see our predictions for the early slate, you can check those out here.

(8) Florida at (25) Missouri

The Florida Gators pulled off the trap win over Ole Miss last week, beating the brakes off of the Rebels while scoring 52 points. Now they have a trap game of their own.

After a huge emotional win, they hit the road to Missouri to face the No. 25 team in the country. The Gators will win, but it’s going to be closer than people think.

Final Score: Florida 31, Missouri 28

Auburn at (17) Tennessee

Auburn hasn’t been a good football team for a while now, but they’re never an easy out. They always find a way to make life difficult – just ask No. 8 Florida, who fended them off, 44-39 two weeks ago – so if Tennessee isn’t careful, they could be facing back-to-back losses, essentially taking them out of CFP contention this early in the season.

Auburn’s defense has been very good this year, and freshman QB Faizon Brandon struggled last week against a good Texas defense. This game is going to be low-scoring, but Tennessee has too much talent to lose. And they’re at home.

Final Score: Tennessee 24, Auburn 18

Maryland at Nebraska

Maryland head coach Michael Locksley is on the hot seat, and for good reason. Maryland hasn’t been competitive the past few years, and 2026 is no different. They lost to Virginia Tech by nine before getting blown out at home by UCLA, 54-3. Now they have to go to Nebraska to face an undefeated Cornhuskers team. I’d be surprised if Maryland stays within two scores.

(4) Miami at Clemson

Based on name value alone, this is one of the best games of the weekend, but once you dive into these two teams, you realize this is a Miami blowout in the making. Clemson may be 3-1, but they got the doors blown off of them by LSU in the season opener and just narrowly escaped a bad UNC team. They do have the luxury of playing at home in this game, but the Hurricanes have too much offensive talent to lose this game. I think Miami wins by 20.

(24) Kentucky at South Carolina

In my way-too-early CFB Top-25 posted back after Indiana won the National Championship, I put Kentucky at No. 25. After four weeks, Will Stein has them in the AP Poll at No. 24, and now they have a date with Shane Beamer, another coach who is on the hot seat after a 2-2 start with losses to Mississippi State and Alabama.

You would think Kentucky would be favored in this game, because they are the better team on paper, but Vegas has South Carolina at -3, and the last time they had a questionable team favored (Florida over Ole Miss), they were right. Vegas knows more than any of us, so give me SC in the upset win.

Final Score: South Carolina 27, Kentucky 26

(10) BYU at TCU

For the third year in a row, No. 10 BYU is firmly in the Big 12 race. They just missed out in 2024 and 2025, finishing 11-2 and 12-2 and ranking in the top 10 at some point each year, but they always seem to fall short. Well, they believe this is the year they can get it done and make it to the College Football Playoff. They have the quarterback in Bear Bachmeier and the running back in LJ Martin. They have a defense capable of holding any opponent to under 20 points. Now, they just need to win, and I think they do that on Saturday.

Final Score: BYU 30, TCU 21

Arkansas at Texas A&M

We all knew Arkansas was going to be bad this year, but Texas A&M has been arguably the most disappointing team in college football. After an 11-2 finish last year and a CFP berth, the Aggies were ranked No. 8 in the preseason poll, but after back-to-back losses to Kentucky and LSU, they’ve fallen out of the rankings.

Luckily for them, Arkansas is probably the worst team in the SEC, so they should be able to bounce back with a big win.

Final Score: Texas A&M 33, Arkansas 13

Utah State at (22) Boise State

It’s still weird to see Boise State and Utah State in the Pac-12, but it’s something we just have to get used to. Boise State is currently the highest-ranked Group of 6 school in the country and is looking to finish the season with just one blemish on its record, and that starts by beating Utah State at home.

The Broncos have a quarterback with 10 touchdowns and zero turnovers and a defense that has only given up 24+ points one time, and that was to Oregon. Meanwhile, Utah State is 1-3 with a loss to Idaho State. This shouldn’t be a competition.

Final Score: Boise State 36, Utah State 10

(12) Texas Tech at Colorado

Like BYU, Texas Tech is in the running for the Big 12 crown, but it’s not going to be easy this week. They have to go to Colorado to face Deion Sanders’ CU team, which isn’t great, but they can put up a fight in front of their home crowd.

Former five-star QB Julian Lewis has been benched for Zach Wilson’s younger brother, Isaac, and the Buffaloes are really hoping he can provide them a spark against a stingy Texas Tech defense. Offense has been hard to come by for Colorado, so I think this ends up being a Red Raiders blowout.

Final Score: Texas Tech 35, Colorado 17

Washington at (18) USC

USC got its butt handed to it by Oregon last week but stayed in the AP Poll, and now they welcome a Washington team that had a lot of hype entering the year but just suffered an embarrassing loss to Minnesota in its Big Ten opener.

But that doesn’t mean USC can sleep on the Huskies, who have one of the most talented quarterbacks in the country in Demond Williams. I’ve gone chalk on a lot of picks in this article, but here’s my upset pick. I think Williams goes off for a big game against this USC defense that can’t stop a nose bleed.

Final Score: Washington 31, USC 30

Army at Louisiana Tech

Army head to Ruston, Louisiana for a battle against Louisiana Tech. After an 80-6 win in opening week, Louisiana Tech has dropped back-to-back games to LSU and Baylor, but they kept it tight with the Tigers in the first half, and now they head home for the first time in nearly a month.

Meanwhile, Army has beat up on a couple of bad teams in Bryant and Temple, but lost to North Texas in Week 2. I do think Army’s rushing attack will be too much for Louisiana Tech, though, who gives up 156 yards per game on the ground.

Final Score: Army 23, Louisiana Tech 21
