The Fighting Irish rolled to yet another win in Week 11, taking down the Navy Midshipmen in a dominant 49-10 fashion. Notre Dame’s seventh straight win keeps them in the playoff contention. Despite the rough weather, QB CJ Carr rose to the occasion, delivering a standout passing performance that powered the Irish to another statement win.

It was snowing heavily in the Notre Dame stadium. But that didn’t matter for CJ Carr, who looked elated after the game. For a Midwestern QB, it is generally hard for them to make plays in rainy/cold weather. But that did not bother the Saline-born Carr, who is used to playing in harsh conditions.

I love it. I talk about this to my dad a lot. When you see a southern quarterback on the other side, it’s almost like ‘I can take him’. I’ve played in the rain and the snow. It’s not fun. I would rather be in the sunshine, but I can handle the situation.” CJ Carr said in the post-game press conference.

The ball becomes slippery and becomes difficult to throw while playing in the rain or snow, something midwestern QBs are not used to much. But CJ Carr showed that he was different from others, putting on a passing masterclass against the Midshipmen despite the snow. He completed 13 of 16 throws, for an 81.3%  completion rate. He also scored 3 passing TDs, bringing his 2025 total to 19.

Carr’s performance on Saturday marked a clear improvement over his outing against the USC Trojans, where he completed just 61.5% of his passes. For HC Marcus Freeman, the victory keeps Notre Dame’s playoff hopes firmly alive. With only three weeks left in the regular season, the Fighting Irish must maintain their winning momentum. In week 12, they take on ACC’s Pittsburgh Panthers in what promises to be an exciting clash.

CJ Carr and Notre Dame have an unfinished job

The Fighting Irish have a 7-2 record this season. Their only losses came against the Miami Hurricanes and A&M in the first two games of the season. After those defeats, Notre Dame has fairly breezed past their opponents this season. And now, with the season just about to end, they take on Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh is currently 3rd in the ACC, and has three big games to win. After Notre Dame this week, they face an ACC clash against Georgia Tech and the Miami Hurricanes in the season-ender game. This makes the game a must-win for the Panthers, who are looking to cement their playoff position.

As for Notre Dame, they are in a comfortable spot to qualify. However, their focus will be on winning the national championship after narrowly missing out on the trophy last season. For CJ Carr, this is his chance to shine. After redshirting last season, the QB was unable to make more than one appearance for the Fighting Irish.

Now that he’s back, he’ll set his sights on clinching the trophy his team fell just short of last season.
