“[It was] the worst formal interview I’ve ever been in in my life,” is how one anonymous NFL assistant coach described his team’s conversation with Shedeur Sanders earlier this year. Already the most polarizing figure in this year’s draft, it’s no surprise that the Colorado Buffaloes quarterback has been engrossed in a silent battle with critics for the larger part of his post-CFB life. Often addressed as too rash, too arrogant, or too entitled, the common opinion has been loud and clear: Shedeur would not find his place among the hallowed first-rounders.

Yet, the Sanders family has publicly resisted time and again, battling the narratives, and breaking it piece by piece if necessary. First, there was the man himself. In a hilarious take on the excess scrutiny the signal-caller has faced, he retorted, “You think I’m worried about what critics say? You know who my dad is? They hated on him too.” Then there was the father, who called the critics venomous and went all out: “It’s like just because they come from me, people take unsolicited shots at them. That’s not fair.” But come Draft night, the father’s tone took a sudden turn—one that wished instead of manifested for his two sons.

Taking to X on April 23, he thanked God and expressed his gratitude. “Watch God show out tonight! The same God that’s taken us from Faith to Faith, High school to High school, College to College, Glory to Glory will continue to take us to where we need to be and where He wants us to go! We’ve already WON! #Dad“.

It’s no surprise that the Colorado Buffs’ coach is a deeply religious man, which might irk many. Remember when, last year, the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) objected to Coach Prime supposedly influencing his players by appointing a ‘spiritual adviser’ or even conducting prayers with the athletes? But what the world didn’t know is the veteran is also a very stubborn man, and the path of faith that he’ll never leave, is what helped calm his nervous self in the lead-up to the NFL Draft. What’s more? Even Coach Prime’s eldest son, Sanders Jr showed his religious side with multiple tweets…

While the 31-year-old has been on a complete roll decorating his X profile like a sanctuary dedicated to his NFL-bound younger brothers for the past week or so, his efforts multiplied as the most important day drew near. On April 23, he started the day by posting a Bible verse: “I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have destroyed all your enemies before your eyes. Now I will make your name as famous as anyone who has ever lived on the earth!” 2 Samuel 7:9″. Barely 15 minutes later, he followed it up with, Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them 2 Kings 6:16″.

An hour later, Jr shared his first tweet—this time attaching four photos comprising the fam. And, two hours later, he was back again…

“You have delivered me from the attacks of the people; you have made me the head of nations. People I did not know now serve me, foreigners cower before me; as soon as they hear of me, they obey me.” Psalms 18:43-44,” he shared. In a symbolic message, he also retweeted one of his old updates that read, “The REJECTED WILL BE RESPECTED.” Looks like the father-son duo is not leaving any stones unturned. But the same can also be said for Shedeur as well, as he just took a special step in favor of his family…

Instead of going to Green Bay, Wisconsin to attend the Draft in person, the quarterback has decided he’s going to spend the day with his whole family at Deion Sanders’ house outside Dallas. As per a video interview with Overtime, he said, “My mom and dad are gonna be there, that’s the funniest part. I might not even hug any of them. Nah, I’m playing. I’m going to be hugging them both, and both their heads are gonna hit each other, and they’re going to be like ‘Awww’, then they’re gonna reunite. All it took was just a couple of years of sacrificing, you know, to get drafted, then get them back.”

Talking about his outfit, the youngest Sanders son also revealed, “Just a whole lot of ice.”

What’s your perspective on:

Can the Sanders brothers live up to their father's legacy, or will they carve their own path?

Have an interesting take?

Having said that, Deion Sanders, who already has a lot of pull in the NFL franchises, must have a hint or two about where his sons, Shedeur and Shilo, might be going. But even the legends can be worried about the unpredictability of NFL drafts. The message is powerful and filled with humility in that sense.

Deion Sanders puts family first in a recent video message

Coach Prime’s family’s influence was so immense at Colorado that the head coach even took several players like Jimmy Horn Jr. under his fold and treated them like his own sons. Now, in a recent video, Deion Sanders has another message for his ‘family’ as it shows how Shilo, Shedeur, Deion Jr, Deiondra, the players, and the coaching staff were a single-family unit in Colorado.

You think you know me? Well, I do what I do. From day one, it’s always been about them. My mama, my sister, Deiondra, Bucky, Shilo, Shedeur, and Bossy, the coaches, players? That’s family. Every move, every sacrifice, every step along the way. See the spotlight may follow me, but I put all that light into them, cause it’s never been about me. It’s always been about family.

The video posted just 4 hours ago has already gained more than 5,000 likes on Instagram, with comments pouring in about how the Sanders family has left a deeper mark on the Buffs’ history. The video might be a sponsored post, but it still shows the bond the family carries. But now with Shedeur and Shilo going to the NFL, will we see the same videos and moments at Colorado with Coach Prime at the helm?
