The Colorado Buffaloes hosted Iowa State in their Week 7 matchup and came out with a deserving 24-17 win. This time, everything finally clicked. Right from Kaidon Salter’s exceptional showing to the O-line finally providing elite protection (0 sacks). Moreover, the win coming against a Big 12 title favorite, Iowa State, is another statement. To top that off, Deion Sanders invited his 3 time Super Bowl friend to make sure the winning ways continue.

Deion Sanders’ Colorado, going into the game, was a 3-point underdog, while Iowa State had Big 12 title ambitions. Of course, the Cyclones were coming off a defeat to Cincinnati. But the team still had a 5-1 record as opposed to Deion Sanders’ 2-4 record, and so no one expected Colorado to win. However, when Salter started throwing those inch-perfect passes and completed 16 of his 25 passes for 255 yards, the feat looked too easy. Now, Deion Sanders is making sure the performances continue.

Deion Sanders invited his close friend Michael Irvin to the Buffs locker after the Iowa State game, who fired up the Buffs players with his fiery speech. “Let me just tell you, it’s such a pleasure to be out there to watch that. But you understand what that is. I watch young men turn the real grown men in that cocoon right there,” said Michael Irvin, pointing to Folsom Field. But that’s not where Irvin stopped; he made the players promise a crucial thing.

“This is not just a game. It’s more than a game because it determines the kind of man that you will be as you move through life. When you’re winning it like this, you’re winning life, and that means we’re all winning. We gotta keep winning like this and keep winning. Every time you step on that field, make a promise to one man to the other. I will get my job done today and then get the job done on that date, and you’ll be a champion,” said a passionate Michael Irvin. The 59-year-old sure would know about being a champion.

Currently a sports commentator, Irvin is considered one of the greatest wide receivers to ever play on the gridiron. Right from 3 Super Bowl championships to earning an undisputed legend status, playing for the Dallas Cowboys. Irvin was pivotal to the Cowboys’ dominance in the 1990s. The passionate speech, then coming from a legend like Irvin, can move mountains for the team. The next games for Colorado are against Utah, West Virginia, and Arizona State, amongst the toughest games, and we should see Colorado finally taking inspiration from their win. Not to mention Michael Irvin’s passionate speech.

Deion Sanders opens up about his team after a win over Iowa State

The win in Week 7 for the Colorado Buffaloes was all ever more needed. Because if not for it, Colorado would have found it difficult to even achieve bowl eligibility. So, Colorado might have gone into the game as underdogs, but after halting Iowa State’s first drive to 42 yards without any points scored in the first quarter, Colorado went on to cap off a 90-yard touchdown drive, and they kept Iowa State trailing throughout the game.

“It means a lot, we won. “It’s different, it’s a different feel, a different mood. Ya lady wants to grab something to eat. Usually, I don’t want to be seen after a loss, but I might actually go do it. You don’t wanna go nowhere when you get your butt kicked… I’ll go and eat somewhere because we won,” said Deion Sanders. Not just that, the head coach praised his receiving unit and said, “These guys can play.” Notably, the receiving game was exceptional, too, for Colorado against No. 22 Iowa State.

Joseph Williams, the sophomore transfer from Tulsa, put in a 128 receiving showing for a touchdown, averaging 16 yards per reception. Omarion Miller, on the other hand, had an 82-yard performance. It was a balanced game from Colorado, employing both rushing plays and passing plays, as the team notched 140 yards on the ground game. Hopefully, this game gives Colorado the required boost, and they continue their winning ways.
