The good cop-bad cop style of parenting. Back in April, it looked like Pilar Sanders and Coach Prime had perfected this with their daughter, Shelomi. But fast forward seven months and Deion Sanders seems to have joined his ex-wife and daughter on the same page.

After following her father from Jackson State to Colorado and not seeing a future for herself there, Shelomi entered the transfer portal. What was Deion Sanders’ reaction? He called it “stupid,” saying, “You kinda get a team [to join] before you enter the portal.” The basketball player may not have needed to wait too long before Alabama A&M welcomed her, but in the meantime, Pilar Sanders stood right by Shelomi.

“We know Shelomi didn’t get recruited by Colorado. She was on the basketball team. Did she get probable time? No, they already had their recruits; they already had their lineup,” Pilar defended her daughter. You weren’t at every game seeing Shelomi sit and pay her dues. Why should she be called stupid for finally taking a stand, putting those big girl pants on, and starting to make a way for herself?” Well, if her debut for Alabama A&M was anything to go by, the 20-year-old sure is making her own way.

Shelomi made her highly-anticipated return to the hardwood with a statement, helping her HBCU squad to a whopping 96-50 victory over Oakwood in an exhibition game. Her Lady Bulldogs debut saw her register a career-high 14 points in just 10 minutes, proving that she can make an immediate impact on the floor – something she couldn’t quite do at Colorado, considering she played only 11 minutes and scored just one 3-pointer. However, with the Lady Bulldogs, she registered not just 14 points but also 2 steals, 1 rebound, and 1 assist. She finished shooting 41.6% from the field and 40% from the 3-point line.

Speaking of 3-pointers, one of Shelomi’s baskets in her Alabama debut was a beautiful one from behind the arc, following which she blew a kiss to the bench. And when she shared it on Instagram, captioned with a “💋” emoticon, it didn’t take long for her No. 1 supporter, Pilar Sanders, to drop a comment that summed up her pride for Shelomi: “That’s mine right there!”  But Deion Sanders wasn’t going to let the mother-daughter duo have all the engagement.

He commented, “DABOO.Coach Prime also gave ‘Bossy’ a nod of appreciation by sharing a post of her achievement on his Instagram story. It was a picture of Shelomi Sanders throwing a perfect shot with the caption, “Shelomi Sanders balled out in her debut with Alabama A&M.” But that wasn’t all.

Coach Prime shared the same video of Shelomi’s 3-pointer on his Instagram account, writing, “I’m so PROUD OF U BABYGIRL & that at the end let’s them know that you’re a $ANDERS! Daboo Daboo Daboo.” Moreover, he also sent her a pair of chic Blenders sunglasses following her debut. Posting a video of herself on her story wearing those shades, Shelomi wrote, “Thank you for sending sum since I cannot raid your office anymore.” Remember how Travis Hunter raided Deion’s office last week for sneakers? Looks like that was something Shelomi used to do, too, during her time in Colorado.

That said, if Deion Sanders is doing it, Pilar Sanders is doing it better. The mother of Coach Prime’s three youngest kids was there to support Shelomi throughout her transition from Colorado to Alabama A&M. She also gave a big shout-out to “the Baby of the Bunch” on her Instagram following the epic debut. Support isn’t scarce in the Sanders household, and after this big achievement, it’s likely that ‘Bossy’ will be the new favorite.

Shelomi Sanders might become No. 1 in Deion Sanders’ rankings

Shelomi Sanders underwent a rough patch with Coach Prime when she first announced her decision to transfer. But the family settled the beef behind closed doors, and she’s soaring up Deion’s Kids Rankings again. She even believes she’s the No. 1 kid in her father’s ranking but for now, Deiondra Sanders gets the cake for she just had Baby Snow, making Coach Prime a grandpa! But what about now after ‘Bossy’s big break?

As significant as her debut was, let’s not forget her brother, Shedeur Sanders, too. The Buffaloes quarterback is one of the key players who has led No. 23 Colorado to their first bowl game appearance since 2020 with their last win against Cincinnati. Extremely good talents to choose from, but no matter who comes out on top, there’s no question that Deion Sanders is proud of each and every one of his children. But we’ll see how the Kids Rankings shape up when the topic pops up. And it sure will.
