How do you go from a program that was at least bringing in 7 wins to just 1? On another episode of “Transfer Portal” strikes again, we got an “STL” athlete calling it quits after a single month. Do you know who is the happiest because of this? UNLV. While the Rebels might not be a “household name” after HC Dan Mullen signed in, things could change – this de-commitment? It is just another step towards that ‘change’. See. the ‘program’ in question could’ve done a lot of things differently. But they didn’t. Going 1-11 and being worse than FSU’s 2024 run is some Oscar-worthy performance. At the end of the day, we are not even surprised that the 3-star Safety called it quits…

“Purdue safety Antonio Parker has entered the transfer portal, @On3sports has learned,” Pete Nakos shared on X. Now, why on earth should UNLV be happy? Well, back in December we got the news that Purdue had actually managed to flip Antonio Parker from the Rebels. “another STL Boilermaker,” Purdue Football had shared – that didn’t age well, huh? The 2025 class for Purdue actually went up in rank from 100 to 79 after their 2025 class signing ended.

But will it stay that way? What about UNLB, though? With the 2024 season over, this sudden trend of players leaving the Rebels and going over to West Lafayette had turned into a new trend. With Parker, many others like Garyt Odom, Parker Meese, and Vi’Naz Cobb had also flipped.

For now, no news on other decommitments, but this little blow is going to hurt Purdue’s ego. Keeping the Boilermaker drama aside, Rebels fans are going to have the time of their lives now. See, UNLV had their own fair share of controversy this season.

The first starts with the NIL drama. Mid-season – QB calls it quits, then your leading RB follows. Not something a program would like to see. Matthew Sluka‘s redshirting came as a shock. It was later uncovered that there was a promise of $100K in NIL, which was never fulfilled.

Then came Michael Allen, who said, “Expectations for opportunities unfortunately were not met” – right before leaving. But hey, somehow, the Rebels made a comeback, and now it is on Dan Mullen to lead this program to greatness.

One step at a time: UNLV’s revival

“Dan Mullen literally, just what? A week ago, two weeks ago, told us, ‘I love TV’.” We were equally surprised when Mullen said yes to the UNLV HC job. This man was the cream of the crop when it came to SEC coaching. A 103-61 career record and led Mississippi State to a SOLID run.

But how does all of that translate to UNLV? Well, first things first: roster changes. Fans are expecting Parker to flip back to UNLV. Now, that wouldn’t be a bad change, keeping in mind Mullen is in charge. However, only that won’t change the program’s trajectory.

“You know, we have so much going on that it kind of got me really excited. The path to the playoff? I’m thinking I’m going to go have some fun,” Mullen had said while talking about UNLV’s potential. With that SEC talent in, Rebels fans could expect a whole new wave of changes on the roster and staff.

Also, the NIL space. Don’t want any more Sluka and Allen drama again!!
