Only a select few can recreate the track record Travis Hunter will leave behind after his CFB days are done, and he is off to the NFL. It was what? 1998? When Champ Bailey hit the gridiron and managed to bring in around 3 interceptions and 5 receiving TDs in a single season. Travis Hunter got down on that turf and broke this record TWICE. Back in 2023 and then in this season. From his force fumble against Baylor to his massive interception and touchdowns, it ain’t no wonder why everyone out there is chanting “HE12MAN”. But here is the thing. What happens after Hunter leaves? Who on the Buffs can bring back the same energy for Deion Sanders?

Well, we might’ve spotted a suitable candidate, folks. Back on Coach Prime’s Playbook, Deion Sanders had some high praise for a specific Buffs WR who was sitting right next to him. “So he never ceased to work, work, work, and then he’s versatile. He’s not just a receiver; he could play slot, he could play in the backfield….. I mean, he can do so many things,” Coach Prime mentioned. Meet Drelon Miller. From the limited appearance he’s had for the Buffs, this guy has already managed to snag 3 touchdowns and 30 receptions.

Against the Jayhawks (a game that was pretty doomed), Miller managed to pick off an unreal 19-yard pass from Shedeur Sanders and made it a touchdown. Joined the Buffs back in December 2023 and Miller has never looked back ever since.

See, we already talked about this dude before. Back in August, Will Sheppard was the first person on the team to pick Miller as the most talented guy in the WR room. Imagine having Hunter over there and still Miller being picked. This alone should tell you everything you need to know about what he is capable of.
With Hunter out next year, Deion Sanders will get more than enough time to develop Miller and turn him into a monster for the Buffs offense. But here’s another question: what about the quarterback? See, Coach Prime ain’t only losing out on Hunter, he is also going to lose Shedeur Sanders.

A new age of Colorado Buffs football
Almost 3500 yards, with 30 touchdowns and barely 7 interceptions. Have you ever thought how hard it will be for Deion to find a replacement for this guy? See, while people generally are always singing praises about Hunter, you gotta keep in mind that with Shedeur, the boys wouldn’t even be on the 8-win run.
Yes, against the Huskers, he acted like a child, but then against the Kansas State Wildcats? Even without having anyone around him (because of the injuries), he still went for 3 touchdowns, and the Buffs almost won.

So, who will be the next QB for the Buffs? Well, when Juju decommitted from USC, there were signs that he was going to come back to Coach Prime. And lo and behold, here he was with his commitment being announced on The Pat McAfee Show.

See, Julian Lewis is everything Deion Sanders could’ve hoped for. He is one of the best QB picks from the entire 2025 class and already has a 140 QB rating. With Shedeur going to the NFL, Lewis will be the perfect fit for the crown. Man, this 2025 roster is going to be something different.
