Colorado’s QB saga drags on. Remember, Week 2 saw Deion Sanders juggling reps between Kaidon Salter, Julian Lewis, and Ryan Staub, turning what should have been a simple battle into a cloud over the offense. Although Staub got the start against Houston, passing for 204 yards and a TD, along with 51 rushing yards, including a near-Elway helicopter run. But missed throws and stalled drives left the Buffs stagnant. Now, with Week 4 approaching, the big question remains: Staub or Salter? The decision rests squarely on Deion Sanders’ shoulders. And here’s the kicker.

Heading into Week 4 against Wyoming, Colorado still hasn’t revealed its starting QB. Well, Deion Sanders confirmed Tuesday that the decision has been made, stating, “Yeah, yeah. Most definitely, I have.” And when asked what he looks for in a QB, he was blunt, saying, “Leadership and consistency. That’s it. That ain’t much to ask. I look for that in everyone — every man, every woman in my life.” But despite his answer, Prime’s expression gave nothing away, leaving fans guessing who will take the reins. And just like that, the QB decision has fans losing faith in Deion Sanders.
On September 18, Colorado reporter Scott Procter shared a clip on X of Coach Prime addressing the Week 4 QB situation. When asked about the starter, Sanders didn’t name names. “It’s there to be had,” he said. “People just have to step up.” Moreover, he added, “Sometimes you gotta take the long way to get there.” Now, with Colorado sitting at 1-2 and facing a 2-1 Wyoming, having a steady hand at QB is crucial. Following that, Sanders’ vague comments left fans frustrated. Simply, many were hoping for clarity, but instead, uncertainty lingers over who will lead the Buffs.

Look, if he was sticking to last week’s promise to avoid musical chairs at the position, Staub would likely still be the starter. But he hasn’t confirmed that. Here comes the question: Did Salter get a fair shot? Not really. Remember, he led the Buffs to six scoring drives in 15 chances and didn’t do anything to lose the job. Despite that, Staub’s few flashier plays against a weaker opponent earned him the nod. Surely, experience with OC Pat Shurmur helps Staub, but Salter’s benching feels more about optics than performance. Given that, now, Coach Prime’s vague QB announcement has fans flooding social media with opinions.

Fans erupted over Deion Sanders’ decision
Colorado’s QB saga has spiraled from uncertainty to outright frustration. Look, four weeks in, most programs have their guy locked in, but the Buffs are still juggling. Instead of putting faith in the transfers they chased so hard, Deion Sanders has rolled with a longtime reserve who lit up Delaware but hasn’t shown consistency beyond that.
Given that, for Kaidon Salter, a one-year rental meant to play, not watch, this limbo is far from what he signed up for. And as Sanders dodges naming a starter for Wyoming, fans are firing back, and one even snapped, stating, “No brother, YOU need to step up.” Off the back of that, even more comments came flooding in.

One frustrated fan vented, “Coach, wtf we doing?” Look, for some, Prime’s silence might look like a strategy, but fans see it differently. They want answers, not riddles. Just like that, another fan fired back, saying, “Talking in circles. This gets old. Salter is the guy — just name him QB for the year and Juju next season.” So, the message was loud and clear: the fanbase is done with the guessing game. However, the frustration didn’t stop there.
Here, one fan summed up the frustration, mentioning, “Just name the QB and let’s move, man. These answers are starting to blow mine.” Then, another didn’t hold back either: “He’s so annoying, man. Put confidence in Salter and just roll with him. We’re gonna keep losing until Prime learns how to be a coach.” So, the patience in Boulder is running thin, and the noise is only getting louder.
