It appears that even though Shaw is back on the field coaching his son’s team, he is still experiencing some health issues. It’s a big blow for someone whose career is built on resilience and tough situations. During his time in the NFL, Shaw suffered a hand injury back in the 2015 preseason, which kept him out for the entire season while playing for the Cleveland Browns. And then even after getting into the Chicago Bears for next season, it couldn’t help him much, as he suffered multiple injuries that ended his career in 2020.

Connor Shaw’s history with Gamecocks

Connor Shaw’s connection with South Carolina goes back a decade when he spent 4 seasons there from 2010 to 2013. He got his first start after Steve Spurrier took the bold step of benching Stephen Garcia in 2011. After taking over the reins, Shaw never disappointed, winning back-to-back games against Kentucky, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Florida, Clemson, and Nebraska that season. Best part? Every season that Shaw started, they won 11 games and were at the top 10 in AP poll ranks too.

But the list doesn’t just stop there. Connor Shaw’s best season came in 2013 when he completed 2,447 yards for 24 touchdowns with just one interception. On top of that, he even doubled down on his rushing skills, going in for 558 rushing yards and 6 more scores. If you don’t know, Shaw’s still the second QB in Gamecocks history to record 58 passing touchdowns, behind Steve Taneyhill. And even his 6,074 career passing yards rank 6th in the program’s history. For now the real concern is his health, and let’s just hope that Shaw recovers from this fast.
