You remember all the noise around Cormani McClain? Five-star phenom out of Lakeland. Once a top corner in the 2023 class. Fast forward a year, the hype disappeared with his time in Colorado under Deion Sanders and whispers about his work ethic. But while the world doubted, one person never did—his mom, Kaishay.

Back when Cormani McClain locked horns with the Buffs, Kaishay held it down online with a raw bomb. “Gotta be somewhere where you’re appreciated and not just tolerated!!!,” she wrote. But she wasn’t bitter. She was just honest. Just being a mom fighting for her son. And no bridges were burned. “Cormani has no one working under him or for him, he & I will be contacting the coaches directly!!! Thankful for all opportunities 🌹And to @DeionSanders & the buff nation 🦬 you guys are still appreciated no matter what! No lost love here! God bless,” she wrote in her farewell message. That’s class and loyalty. And it’s her unrivaled support that has the 21-year-old sending her a thoughtful message.

Cormani McClain posted a special message for Kaishay on Mother’s Day in his Instagram story on May 11—A smiling photo of his biggest cheerleader holding up a poster of him. His caption may have no words, but the two “❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹” speak volumes. It’s years of struggle, belief, and love packed into a silent salute. Yeah, the young guy has been bruised. Unceremonious departure from Boulder. Skeptical arrival at Florida as a walk-on. But through it all, it’s his mother’s belief in him that kept him from breaking apart.

When Cormani McClain hit the portal, most expected a blue-blood program to scoop him up. Instead, he went to Florida as a walk-on with no scholarship and no guarantee. But Kaishay never wavered in her belief. In October, she posted a heartfelt message—“To my son; Never feel that you are alone. No matter how near or far apart, I am always there in your heart.” It was a lifeline of a statement. Because behind the headlines, he was searching for stability, structure, and belief.

Fast forward to January 2025, and Cormani McClain’s grind finally paid off. Billy Napier and co. put him on scholarship. Kaishay didn’t miss the moment. “God is amazing ❤️ Thankful for the whole staff at UF 🐊,” she wrote. Then came February 26, his 21st birthday. Just before midnight, she dropped one of the most emotional messages of all—“B4 12am hit I want to wish my only son Money man a Happy Birthday!! He’s overcome trials n tribulations and he is a true blessing to me from God! Love you son.” And now, the story’s shifting. Cormani’s not just surviving; he’s thriving.

Cormani McClain is earning Florida’s belief

Here is where it gets real interesting. Florida’s coaches are raving about Cormani McClain now. From three games and 111 snaps last season to a breakout offseason, he’s on to something serious. He’s putting in effort both on and off the field, which the Gators’ strength and conditioning coach, Tyler Miles, couldn’t help but notice.

Cormani has been phenomenal,” he said. “And not just putting on weight, he has conducted himself extremely well. I’m extremely proud of Cormani McClain. ‘Yes sirs,’ ‘how can I get better?’

Miles also added on the 6’1, 182-pounder’s speed. “He ran 23 miles an hour,” he said. “He never ran that fast last year, and he weighs 20 pounds more and is running a whole mile per hour faster.” He’s becoming everything people said he wasn’t a year ago. “Cormani has been nothing but a joy to see this winter. And that’s awesome.” Yep! Not everyone gets to indulge in that kind of praise from a coach.

So, can we be surprised if Cormani McClain starts locking down WRs this fall? From walk-on to warrior, this comeback isn’t just about football alone. It’s family, effort, and resilience.
