Did Jerry Jones overestimate Deion and Shedeur Sanders' impact, or is Coach Prime just being realistic?

Shedeur Sanders going to the Dallas Cowboys is the latest buzz among experts. But it seems the Cowboys’ owner, Jerry Jones, also might like having another Sanders on his roster. After all, how could Jones resist?

Deion Sanders played for the Cowboys in the ‘90s as a defensive back, leading them to a Super Bowl victory. It’s almost like history is trying to repeat itself—or at least Jones hopes it will. But Coach Prime might have just dashed those dreams.

On August 24, Deion held a press conference ahead of the season opener. Among the many questions, one reporter asked him about the ending of his coaching era with his kids. Now, Deion Sanders has been the head coach to both his sons, Shilo and Shedeur Sanders, from their days at JSU to their current run with the CU Buffs. But for the future, Deion confirms he has no plans to follow them into the pro league.

He explained, “I don’t think it’s the closing, it’s just different levels to this thing. Although I’m 100% sure that I’m not going to be their coach next year, I’m still going to have influence on their lives. Because I’m their father.”

Coach Prime also discussed how he balances his roles as dad and coach, saying he does his best to keep them separate. Well, this might be a bummer, not just for Buffs fans but also for Jerry Jones. After all, he might have dreamed of having both Sanders’ names on his roster.

Cowboys eye Deion and Shedeur Sanders

Among the possible NFL landing spots for Shedeur Sanders, the Dallas Cowboys are getting the most likes. CFB expert Matt McChesney recently said, “I definitely see Shedeur going to Dallas…110%;” his co-host Bailey agreed, adding, “I can see Jerry Jones throwing in all the cards to get him.” This strong confidence isn’t just because of the Deion-Jerry Jones connection. The ongoing contract drama with Cowboys QB Dak Prescott also fuels it. Jones might be looking for a more affordable option with Prescott’s contract set to reach a whopping $65 million—and Shedeur could be that guy.

Have an interesting take?

An insider revealed to ESPN’s Jordan Reid, “With the Dak contract mess happening and struggling to pay their other stars, you better believe that [Jerry Jones] has it in the back of his mind what the benefits of a young and cheap QB could be for that team if they crash and burn again in the playoffs.” The young and affordable QB in question? Shedeur Sanders, the Texas-born home-state kid.

However, the rumors don’t stop there—some believe Jerry Jones might also try to bring in Deion Sanders. However, Deion has quickly shut down that idea. Despite this, will the Cowboys still make a move for Shedeur?
