Since yesterday, alarm bells have been ringing wild at Oxford. Even after beating the Swamp, with the crowd chanting ‘we want Lane’. Florida rumors haven’t died down. Although Lane Kiffin mentioned that he loves coaching at Ole Miss, his ex-wife, Layla, and son Knox reportedly visited Gainesville on Sunday, and now the most expensive house in town is up for sale.

The next day after Layla toured Gainesville, former Florida head coach Dan Mullen’s house was listed for sale for $3,295,000. The concerned property is situated in SW 111th Way and is in a close neighbourhood to Florida Athletic Director Scott Stricklin’s residence. With the latest chip of evidence, fans have been going gaga all over the internet, regarding whether Kiffin is heading to the Swamp.
In an interview with Ross Dellenger, he did express his desire to be at “one of the elite blue bloods where you can sign top-five classes every year because of your in-state talent, and facilities, and tradition.” With the Gators’ hot talent-bed just across the yard, can the Ole Miss coach land at Florida?

As it seems, even his staff at Oxford won’t be surprised if he takes up the Florida job. According to On3’s Gators’ Online, “Multiple members of Kiffin’s staff expect him to accept the Florida job if formally offered.” Moreover, Kiffin has long since revered Florida legends such as Steve Spurrier, who thinks that the Rebels coach might be a good fit at the Swamp. “I know Lane Kiffin, and I know Eli Drinkwitz,” said Spurrier in a conversation with Pat Dooley. “Obviously, either one of those guys would be super if it works out,” but admitted that he is not sure by when the search is going to wrap up.
Connecting the dots, it tells a different story, which Lane Kiffin hasn’t been saying out loud. Not just in Gainesville, Layla was also seen around Baton Rouge, as The Athletic’s Stewart Mandel reported, adding that “Lane was not on either trip.”

The noise surrounding Lane Kiffin couldn’t be any louder. Oxford is doing all it can to retain him. A few days ago, Bruce Feldman and Ralph Russo reported that Ole Miss “has been willing to say yes to just about anything Kiffin asks for in Oxford.” The question at hand is where he ultimately wants to be, and as it seems, maybe his ex-wife might sway that decision. Remember how Miss Terry toured Baton Rouge before Nick Saban took the LSU job? Well, it might be a similar picture presently.

Will Lane Kiffin leave Ole Miss?
Lane Kiffin certainly has the leverage on his hands. With the 10th win over the weekend, the Rebels’ playoff promises seem nearly fulfilled. Neither Oxford nor the fans want to let him go, with them hanging signboards saying, “Kiffin to Florida, according to your mom’s Facebook.” On the other hand, didn’t Landry hint her dad towards Baton Rouge, where she is dating LB White Weeks?
One thing is certain: Oxford is staring down at uncertainty. With Florida and LSU’s constant pursuit, and Kiffin’s vague reply, nothing is certain. Ole Miss had to take a step forward for a clearer future vision. According to Stewart Mandel, the program has reportedly given him an ultimatum. He must give them an answer before the roster heads to the Egg Bowl against Mississippi State on November 28. Though earlier Kiffin mentioned, “We will play for the Egg Bowl to go 11-1, and he will play that night for the North Division of the state.” So, what will it be?
Arguably, Kiffin’s pursuit has become one of the hottest storylines coming out of college football. Will he leave? What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
