After a tough loss against Sonny Dykes’ TCU, it was clear Deion Sanders was in tremendous pain. Coach Prime had to undergo another procedure to deal with recurring blood clots in his left leg – reportedly his 16th surgery in the last three years, which is wild. Despite all the health battles, he kept his spirits high, joking around with his sons and staying positive before the procedure. In fact, he’s more ‘worried’ about the Buffs’ upcoming match against No. 22-ranked Iowa State.

On October 6, just a day before undergoing surgery, Deion Sanders spoke with Romi Bean from CBS Colorado. Deion Sandes had his priorities straight: “I’m more concerned about making sure we get the W for these wonderful hometown fans.”

The Buffs are already 2-4 (0-3 in the conference) overall heading into week 7, and the alarm bells are ringing. They simply cannot afford to lose to a heavy-hitter program like Iowa State. Matt Campbell’s squad is 5-1, with a 2-1 record in the conference, and they pose a legitimate threat. Meanwhile, the Buffs have yet to grab a conference win. Colorado’s two victories came against non-Power Four opponents, the Wyoming Cowboys and Delaware.

Although his team stumbles on the field, he stayed quite positive about his surgery. He said, “I’m having the surgery. When this airs, I’ll have already had the surgery a day ago, and I should be up and back at practice by the time this airs, and have had a great day. But I’m going to be okay. I’m not worried.”

The surgery, an “aspiration thrombectomy,” went down on Tuesday, October 7, and by God’s grace, it was a success. The doctors went into his popliteal and tibial arteries to clear out the clots that were causing all that pain and throbbing in his leg. Deion even joked on social media that he was ready for a good four-hour nap from the anesthesia.

However, in true Coach Prime fashion, he was back on the field the next day, Wednesday, October 8, at practice with his team. He was spotted walking around and soaking in the fresh feel of the grass. While clearly still recovering, he was engaged with his players, proving that nothing can keep him down for long. He’s planning to be on the sidelines for this weekend’s marquee showdown at Folsom Field on Saturday, October 11, 2025, with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. MT on ESPN.

With Deion Sanders focused and all-in for the weekend, guess who traveled 625 miles from Texas? Mama Sanders!

Connie Knight makes a trip to Boulder to visit Deion Sanders

Deion Sanders and his mama, Connie Knight, are tight as any oath. He frequently talks about how much she means to him and gives her tons of credit for shaping him into the man he is today. On October 8, a Colorado Buffaloes insider with Jake Truth shared the IG clip of Connie Knight surprising Deion Sanders at Boulder as she travelled from Texas.

There would be no Deion Sanders without Connie Knight. Prime Time’s always been open about the sacrifices Connie made for the family. Deion Sanders is always trying to show his appreciation for his mama. For instance, he designed a special Nike shoe, the Air DT Max 96 “Love Letter to Connie,” dedicated to her. He even famously shared that she hasn’t had to work since he made it big in 1989.

Despite his achievements and renown, Deion remains grounded, always remembering his roots and the woman who supported him. That makes their relationship truly unique and inspiring.
