Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are facing a huge uphill battle. Last season was quite terrible with their 4-8 record and having one of the worst defenses in the Pac-12. Well, there’s no exaggeration here! They were giving up almost 35 points a game!

Now, they’re into the new Big 12 season and have to find a way to stop teams from running all over them. And it looks like they can do it with ease. Well, that’s what Warren Sapp believes.

Last year, Sapp probably never imagined he’d be coaching the Buffaloes, but here he is, now serving as their senior quality control analyst on defense for fall camp. He’s clearly loving his role and is confident that the new Buffs defense is ready to make some noise this season. On August 13, Sapp talked to the media and sent out a warning: “Don’t run on Colorado 🤷‍♂️.”

According to Sapp, the Buffs’ defense has turned into a beast, and he’s fully backing his squad. “We got 5 (defensive) ends on a two-way highway, so y’all better fight for those reps because they’re gonna go fast,” he said. “Inside, we’re building depth and making sure the guys are solid. Last year, we couldn’t stop the run, and that won’t happen with me here,” he added firmly.

With Sapp’s confidence and the revamped defensive line featuring players like BJ Green, Dayon Hayes, and Nikhai Hill-Green, the Buffaloes look ready for action. Also, with veteran safeties like Cam’Ron Silmon and Shilo Sanders, along with solid additions in the secondary, it’s not just talk — the Buffs are ready to back it up on the field. Even Sapp himself is quite amazed by what he’s seen.

Deion Sanders’ new D-line is loaded

Deion Sanders has been busy reshaping the Buffaloes’ defense, trying to erase the terrible memories of last season. He’s changed the players and brought in new coaching talent. With defensive coordinator Robert Livingston, wide receivers coach Jason Philips, and new defensive line coach Damione Lewis, Sanders has built what’s billed as a ‘3-headed monster’ for the defense.

This new lineup of coaches and players is already proving their worth. On August 2, Warren Sapp shared a clip from the training camp on Instagram. The legendary defensive player seemed pumped up, helping the Buffs get better. But what happened on the field was one of those moments where the student surpasses the teacher. During a drill, Green II got so into perfecting his pass-rushing moves by pinning Sapp down when he got in his way. Sapp ended up on the ground, proving the new talents are quite the beast in the Buffs’ roster.

With just two weeks to go before the season starts, Sapp has been oozing confidence in press meetings. He even cheekily warned opponents, “You get shot with a .38 or .9 mm, you pick.” Yeah, he calls the CU Buffs’ D-line a loaded weapon ready to decimate opposing offenses! Let’s see if all the hype turns into great plays on the field.
