Is Deion Sanders' hype all talk? Michigan's $9M record makes Coach Prime look overrated.

There are no pleasant memories for Colorado fans from last week’s game between the Buffs and Nebraska, and if we remember Shedeur Sanders’ play, then sadly, it was even worse. Fans got angry looking at Sanders’ game and called him “Nepo baby.” Well, if CFB fans could tell such things to the buffs, how can their biggest critic keep quiet about it? After the game, Paul Finebaum lashed out at Deion Sanders and his team, calling them “irrelevant”. Fast forward to 2024 college football, week 2 TV viewership has surfaced online, and Colorado grabbed the chance to flex their higher ranking in it, particularly targeting Paul Finebaum’s comments.

As per the week 2 viewership, the Texas vs Michigan game has engaged the highest number of viewers, with 9.1 million viewers. The second-highest game on that list is the Colorado vs. Nebraska game, which received 5.6 million viewers. These numbers added to an existing debate between the Buffs fans and Finebaum about whether the Prime Time’s team is relevant.

For months, we have been watching Paul Finebaum attack either Deion Sanders or his team. Ahead of Colorado’s Week 1 game, he had done the same. “They don’t matter. They’re irrelevant in the big picture of college football. These words of Finebaum created a surge among CU fans. After which, on September 2nd, the Colorado Buffs tweeted an image from the game and bragged about the 5.6 million viewers, which were recorded to be ESPN’s most viewed numbers for a Thursday night opener in the past seven years. Buffs chose a befitting caption from Finebaum’s comments: “irrelevant.”

Following this, Finebaum stated, “What did Colorado really accomplish other than drawing a big audience for ESPN? Finebaum raised this question to the audience watching his show and pointed out that Sanders is more inclined to keep up with his media appearance rather than focusing on team management. Besides that, Finebaum talked about Colorado’s poor performance, particularly Deion Sanders’ coaching inabilities and Shedeur Sanders.

Finebaum asked the audience a sharp question: “What concerns me more than anything else was the way Dion coached the game down the stretch. Is he in control on the sidelines?” Finebaum was talking about a stressful situation during the game when quarterback Shedeur Sanders’s poor judgment resulted in their opponents taking charge of the game. He further pointed at the major flaws in the game management and sideline control.

At that moment during the game, Nebraska’s on-point defense took aback Shedeur Sanders. He completed 23 out of 38 passes for only 244 yards and one touchdown. That’s why Finebaum bombarded the Buffaloes’ offensive line struggles, which allowed their opponents to do 6 sacks and 10 tackles in their defeat against Nebraska. Deion Sanders needs to take notes from his critics if he wants his team to do better in their upcoming endeavors.
