The former NFL quarterback was a part of the ESPN fam since 2021 and had become a familiar face on their analyst panel. But surprisingly, the network cut him from their payroll because of budget constraints. Well, the news shocked many, including RG3 himself. But instead of staying down, the former quarterback is bouncing back—he’s launching his own podcast!
On August 26, RG3 posted a picture with his wife, Grete Griffin, and Deion Sanders, hinting at his new show. “First Podcast after ESPN layoff dropping tomorrow, and you won’t want to miss it. Subscribe, like, and turn those notifications on,” he wrote. From its looks, Deion will be his first guest. After RG3 shared the news, Deion responded warmly, saying, “Love you and the family, my brother. Wifey 4 Lifey was awesome!!!!”

It seems we’re in for some exciting content, with Grete Griffin also getting some mic time. Even RG3 hinted at this in his reply to Deion’s comment, saying, “@deionsanders Appreciate you, my brother 🤙🏾 She knows her stuff, and we love you back, OG.” Meanwhile, Grete couldn’t resist joining the conversation, adding, “I love you so much 😍❤️ thankful for the opportunity!!!”
It’s clear the Griffin family is thrilled with Deion’s support. But Deion isn’t just a part of their new venture—he’s like a part of his family, too! Coach Prime has been like a big brother to RG3 during this challenging time.

Deion Sanders and Robert Griffin III show the Brotherhood
Robert Griffin III was a well-known color commentator for ESPN. Not just his Monday Night Countdown, he’s also been a part of their many other programs. So, his sudden firing came as a big surprise to him. When asked about it on Rich Eisen’s show, RG3 admitted, “Yes, I was surprised.” He was especially shocked because he had just been assigned to host the college football season. “It hurt me for them, not because they need me—they don’t,” he added.

For the past couple of weeks, the Heisman winner has expressed his disappointment on social media, and Coach Prime has also shown his support. Deion even reposted some of RG3’s tweets, adding his own voice to Griffin’s frustrations. Last week, Deion responded to one of Griffin’s posts with, “Love ya my brother! I believe in you and what you stand for, and tell the girls Uncle Prime said hi.”
Now, this support isn’t one-sided. RG3 has also backed Deion Sanders when he’s faced criticism, particularly from fellow ESPN panelists. In July, when Paul Finebaum criticized Deion and the Buffaloes, calling them “irrelevant” in college football, RG3 was quick to defend him, saying, “I vehemently disagree with Paul Finebaum’s criticism of Coach Deion Sanders,” and added, “That couldn’t be further from the truth.”
