Barack Obama couldn’t help but throw a playful jab at Deion Sanders this time. His Arizona Wildcats loyalty was on full display during a campaign stop in Tucson, where he stirred things up! Ahead of the Colorado Buffs’ matchup against the Wildcats, Obama couldn’t resist taking a dig at Sanders. Speaking to the Tucson crowd, he joked, “I know you know Colorado’s got a couple of good players, but I also know you guys have beaten them twice in a row, so don’t bet against the Wildcats tomorrow.”

Well, it seems those words traveled fast, and as we know, they tend to come back around. And Obama might be regretting that little quip, as it didn’t take long for the playful back-and-forth to escalate.

Deion Sanders was able to make a perfect comeback after Colorado dominated the Wildcats to a 34-7 victory. In his post-game conference, he addressed Barack Obama, saying, “President Obama is everything to me. I mean I love him, I admire him, I respect him tremendously, but I heard what he said… that’s why I really don’t get into politics. I get into people.”

Deion Sanders also mentioned the “beaten them twice in a row statement saying the former president did his homework. Yes, Arizona did beat Colorado for two straight years in 2022 and 2023. But this year, the Buffs delivered a strong performance that showed collective improvement among all units. He also made a subtle roast of Obama’s statement while lauding his team when he said, “We have two good players? We have more than two good players!

Deion Sanders still shows love and respect to the former president despite the wrong prediction. He said, “President, come on man! You my man, I love you, I appreciate you. But come on dawg! God bless you. I still love you.” The last game took Colorado to 5-2, their best season-starting record since 2018! And interestingly, not all the “good players” carried the game.

Colorado crushes Arizona in Tucson

It’s best not to underestimate Colorado. Sure, Deion Sanders might say something that could drive fans into a frenzy of speculation. But they have talent besides Travis Hunter who only played for the first half due to precautionary measures for his injured shoulder from the last game. Will Sheppard and LaJohntay Wester made valuable contributions to the game.

By halftime, Colorado led 28-7 and didn’t allow any more points for the Wildcats after that. Shedeur Sanders completed 23 of 33 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns. The Buffs defense dominated the game with seven sacks. This victory leaves Deion Sanders and the Buffs just one more win away from bowl game eligibility as they improve their record to 5-2 at the 50,724-crowd Arizona Stadium on Saturday.
