Deion Sanders isn’t just a football coach at Colorado; he is a cultural revolution sweeping the football world. More than his words, his actions speak about the legacy that he is building in Colorado. Just ask yourself if any other head coach amongst the 132 FBS teams would have given the freedom to Travis Hunter to play both ways. Probably not. It was the ‘Deion Sanders’ mindset that enabled Travis Hunter to win that Heisman. Why?
Well, because he is one of the greatest defensive ends in NFL history, that’s why, and also because of the weight his voice and his opinions carry in every room he enters. Moreover, ever since he has taken over Colorado, a program that was reeling with obscurity is now one of the most watched teams in college football. For context, the Oregon game was watched by more than 10 million people, and the Colorado vs. Kansas fixture stood 25th nationally in viewership, barring playoffs. And now this off-season, Prime Time is on to a very different arena, and guess what? He is excelling in that, too.
Well, we all know how important family is for Deion Sanders. We saw Coach Prime fighting for Shedeur’s draft over the course of the previous months and even threatened to ‘out’ the coach who, in his opinion, was spreading lies in the media. Coach Prime has never shied away from taking a stand for his kids and his family, and quite recently, we saw his mother, Connie, sporting that special edition, stylish red Nike sneakers dedicated by Nike. The shoes were especially launched to celebrate the bond between Deion Sanders and his mother. Coach Prime even captioned the post and sent a message to his haters. “My Mama was and still is my WHY? All the way from Ft.Myers Florida #239. She ain’t worked since 89!!! And u got the nerve to Hate, Hate on that.” The sneakers went on sale by Nike and were sold out within 5 minutes. But this wasn’t it.

Several other sneakers were also launched by Nike, especially for Deion Sanders. There was a stylish white high-top, a golden and black high-top, and several others. Guess what? All of these sneakers were sold in less than 10 minutes. Deion Sanders took to Instagram and wrote a message for his critics and straight-up silenced them. “They say I Sold out ! They had to be talking about my shoes. Sold out on SNKRS in less than 10 minutes.”
Deion Sanders not only shared the pictures of the white sports shoes by Nike but also shared a throwback picture when he donned them in the NFL. The head coach shared the picture with his autograph on it, along with the picture of the sneakers. This incident alone shows the type of ‘pull’ that the head coach still has on the fans, even now as a coach. Now you can imagine how crazy the fans would have gotten when the man himself entered the field all clothed up in team colors, right? But this is not where Deion Sanders’ recent achievements end.

Coach Prime reacts to his brand-new upcoming Netflix documentary
We have seen Deion Sanders be a head coach who leaves a lasting legacy on players. Be it his almost personally crafted recruitment philosophy or the way he manages his players in Colorado. But more than that, he is also a prolific coach on the field. His first season might not have gone his way at Colorado, but the man showed that he means business after leading the Buffs to a 9-4 season. All these things have captured the attention of a media giant, and Coach Prime is getting his own documentary.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Deion Sanders the most influential coach in college football today, or just a passing trend?
Have an interesting take?
As per reports by ON3, Coach Prime’s tenure at the Buffs will be the subject of a 2-episode Netflix documentary titled ‘Prime Time’ that will be released in 2026. Deion Sanders reacted to the development in quite his signature fashion, “Guess what, I heard a rumor,” Sanders said in a video. “I ain’t one for rumors, but I heard a rumor. Prime Time is going prime time on Netflix in 2026. Oh! Now give me my theme music.” Well, Deion Sanders might be terming it as a ‘rumor,’ but the documentary is pretty much in the pipeline.
