Shedeur Sanders might never live down the ‘rich kid’ criticism that comes his way 24/7. Being Deion Sanders’ son gave him access to all kinds of luxuries. For him, it was absolutely cool to drive around Boulder in a Rolls-Royce. Those comments got sharper as the 2025 draft advanced, which were sprinkled with accusations of the Sanders clan relying on nepotism. He made it through a tumultuous journey and was finally able to keep some of those comments at bay. But once again, a rather shiny asset has people up in arms about his wealth. Big brother Deion Sanders Jr. is back at his rescue.

Shedeur, while at Colorado, had an NIL valuation of $6.5 million toward the end of his CFB career. To that, he could very easily add the family wealth that came with being part of the Sanders clan. All of that made it perfectly okay for him to own a custom black and gold RR during his time at college. Now, his annual salary at Cleveland is roughly one-sixth of that of his college pay ($4.6 million for 4 years). But eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice a brand-new ride at the Sanders estate in a Well Off Media video, and that’s all it took for those rumors to start circulating.

But Bucky is now setting the record straight. The car in question is a custom Rolls-Royce—a mix between brown and green—and is reportedly worth at least $500,000. The elder Sanders brother said in a May 28 video in clarification, “Why would y’all think this was Shedeur? Who said anything about this being Shedeur? Nobody said that. Y’all just made your own story and ran with it.”

It’s not the first time that a member of the Sanders family has been a victim of disinformation. The whole discourse, especially in Shedeur’s case, has instances where people have blatantly lied to malign them. We still don’t have a person on record to verify all the claims that were made about Shedeur during the draft process.

“It was delivered to me as a sample,” Bucky said, bringing an end to the suspense around who the car really belongs to. “[They] let you drive it for like 30 days to see if you’re gonna get that,” he added further.

Here’s more about what likely stirred the pot. In the actual video, we saw the car arriving at the Sanders estate. Bucky was on a video call with Shedeur, who wanted to see the car when it was being rolled out. “That’s a winning car,” he said. The QB himself also denounced the rumor on X, writing, “Another lie…. I’m focused on my team not a car purchase !” And focused he is. Shedeur has impressed his coaches at rookie camps and is now well into participating in the OTAs.

Even though he very well can afford a new vehicle, he’s not choosing to. He joked about his rather humble salary and signing bonus when asked if he’d like to buy DeAndre Carter’s jersey, which bears the number 2. “I’m not trying to buy anything… My signing bonus ain’t that high right now.” But before Bucky cleared the air around the flashy new ride, Coach Prime also stepped into this new drama to defend his son.

Deion Sanders shuts down rumors about Shedeur’s new ride

Deion Sanders had just one word for the trolls. “LIES,” he wrote on X in defense of Shedeur. This is not the first time Coach Prime has taken the stand. After all, he stalwartly stood with his son during his rollercoaster ride of a draft. Time and again, he gave it back to the haters, whose numbers rose like a wave the further Shedeur slipped into the draft. Even as he debunked this new rumor, the hate sprang up once again. A particularly angry fan wrote mockingly, “Daddy let your son be his own man … let him answer for himself …”

Thankfully, Deion Sanders is not the NFL great who is on his son’s team. Longtime friend Chad Ochocinco Johnson tried to bat for Shedeur, especially for the backlash the QB received about his perceived arrogance. “He’s a little bit more flashy, he has a little bit more aura and bounce to him. It comes with the last name in general, you know,” the former NFL star said in a May 1 episode of Nightcap. “Shedeur comes with the camera and the lights and the glitz and glamor already,” he saidHe has it all before he even got to the NFL, so it’s hard to tone that down and then bring it back out, but listen, he in there now, so the sky’s the limit.”

It’s not easy being a Sanders kid, particularly because of the upbringing they’ve had. That last name alone is enough for Shedeur, Coach Prime, and even Shilo to be subjected to ire. New car or not, there’s always something for people to talk about when it comes to Shedeur Sanders.
