What started as a journey to become “the next legendary” QB1 for the Buffs has spiraled out of control. With Shedeur Sanders off for the Drafts, Coach Prime needed a plan. After all, the Buffs needed a reliable QB1 to carry them through 2025 – enter Julian Lewis. Juju checked out all the boxes, and it’s not surprising that Deion Sanders stood firm in the race to secure Lewis for the Buffs. Now, it’s been months since that happened – what’s with all the fuss now? Well, Julian Lewis is stuck smack-dab in the middle of a QB1 war and Deion’s run-ins with the NCAA. The first program you start with and this is the scene? Could all of this lead to Coach Prime losing out on Shedeur’s successor?

“Young Legend,” Deion Sanders Jr. pointed out X while sharing one of Juju’s latest posts. Someone has to do the work and keep the talent happy, right? Well, Bucky is always up for the job!! See, the 17 y/o needs all the support he can get from Buffs Nation. The reasoning is simple – his journey to replace Shedeur Sanders is not going to be an easy one. Let’s just say Deion got more than he bargained for. The moment Lewis declared his commitment, Santa Claus himself flew by and dropped another present in Deion’s lap – “I’m here to be a Leader and Lead this Team to that Big 12 Championship.” Former Liberty QB Kaidon Salter is now a certified Buff, and he has a solid vision for this team.

What does the 5-star 2025 class talent do now? “They already have their guy of the future,” Coach Breeze had pointed out, calling Deion’s decision to bring in Salter “a bad business move”. There is some truth to that statement. For Coach Prime, picking a QB who has the grit and experience to carry the mantle in 2025 is important.

Many will argue that Shedeur “wasn’t the best QB” out there, but he was one hard player to deal with. You give him enough time in the pocket and he could surgically rip apart your team – to recreate this talent means your guy needs the experience. Salter comes in trained. Led Liberty to a massive season and has over 3k yards to vouch for his dominance. On the flip side, you have Elite11’s No.1 passer in the nation: Juju.

For every other program in the country, Juju fever was always at an all-time high – and for good reasons. Over 10k yards and 144 TDs show nothing but pinpoint precision from the pocket and calculated movement. Watching this guy play for Carrollton was like watching Da Vinci paint the Mona Lisa. Lewis knows what he is doing, but can Coach Prime say the same?

NCAA drama amidst QB1 struggle for Juju

Fun fact: Did you know that you cannot reveal your “recruits” name before they have joined your program? Funny right? Someone should’ve told this to Deion before he went out throwing Juju’s name around during the Buffs livestreams. Yeah, unfortunately, the NCAA has slammed Coach Prime with violations – is Juju affected? No. He wasn’t even involved in it.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Julian Lewis the true heir to Shedeur Sanders, or will Kaidon Salter steal the spotlight?

Have an interesting take?

However, for Deion and Buffs? This means no more livestreams. Oh, and Prime Time also gotta attend those “NCAA rules education sessions”. Imagine this is how you start the 2025 year. Big jinx. Regardless, Deion still has almost a year left to decide who he is going to start.

To be honest, and fans would agree as well, the Buffs should go for the 2 QB route. Have a solid QB1 and a solid backup as well. Steve Sarkisian did it perfectly with Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning, so it is not exactly an “impossible task”.

Let’s just hope neither of these 2 talented QBs gets stuck in limbo.
