After Miami’s 24-21 loss to the Cardinals, Carson Beck’s performance received a lot of backlash from the fans. Beck threw not one, not two, not three, but four interceptions against Louisville. This was Beck’s first stinker since moving to Miami on a record-breaking $4.4 million NIL deal. The QB has led the team to five straight wins and has passed for 1,484 yards at 71.4% efficiency already. But one bad game has put Beck in the spotlight. And the criticisms further intensified after Beck’s post-game comments.

“I mean, we have a perfect play for it. We just had a miscommunication about the route and what we were doing. I was used to where I ran the route from, and I went through it because we’re hot off the pressure,” said Beck about his late interception in the fourth quarter. Grantreacts, however, posted an IG post defending Carson Beck’s statement and called people to stop misconstruing it. “He’s just explaining what happened,” said the host. However, in an unexpected move, Coach Prime endorsed Grantreacts’ reasoning.

So what did Coach Prime do? The Colorado head coach reposted the IG post on his feed as people flooded the comments about Coach Prime’s support for Beck. It surely shows that the mistakes might not have been wholly because of Carson Beck, and there is more to it. The criticism was also notably fueled by an X post by football analyst Emmanuel Acho.

The analyst wrote how players would be ahead of the fans in the new world of CFB, where half-knowledge leads to criticism. “Carson Beck threw his teammate directly under the bus. Sadly, this will happen more. With laymen having access to game footage and inciting fan base hatred on concepts they’re unsure of. Players will get ahead of the online slander to protect themselves,” wrote Acho. However, Beck didn’t really throw his teammate under the bus!!

Beck, in reality, was just explaining the play in the fourth quarter and how some miscommunication led to the interception. The Miami QB1 also took accountability for the mistake and vowed to learn from his errors. That’s exactly what Deion Sanders saw in Beck’s statement. That said, Coach Prime also has another reason, connected with his son Shedeur, that might have brought out his support for Beck.

Deion Sanders’ support for Carson Beck stems from his son’s 2024 woes

Deion Sanders’ son, Shedeur, playing for Colorado in 2024, exceeded all expectations. The Buffs QB1 passed for a whopping 4,134 yards at an incredible 74% efficiency. Owing to his performances, Colorado finished with a historic 9-win season, and Travis Hunter won the Heisman. However, protection remained a problem for Shedeur, as he took 42 sacks last year. Colorado also stood 126th nationally in sacks allowed. Sanders, then, showed frustration with the protection.

“I mean, how many times did Raiola get touched? Of course, when you’re able to run the ball consistently, that opens up the pass, you know? But it’s just like, you’ve got to understand what your team’s good at. Why would we keep running the ball when we get out there and there’s a must-get situation and we don’t get it?” said Shedeur after the Nebraska loss last year. As for Deion Sanders, the Buffs’ head coach also supported his son.

“Protections were a problem. You know, I’m trying to be polite and say it, because you know I can say the same thing you’re thinking, but if I say it, you’d say I’m throwing my guys under the bus,” said Coach Prime. Beck’s case surely then brings a familiar situation for Coach Prime. For now, though, Coach Prime has undid the repost. It may have happened because of the heavy public spotlight the act has caught after Deion Sanders’ IG repost.
