Things in Boulder have become worse. What was once a swaggering season has gradually evolved into something a lot like a wake-up call. Arizona, the team that had a 1-3 record going into the first week of Big 12 play, just crushed the Colorado Buffaloes 52-17. Fans who used to pay close attention to everything Coach Prime said at pressers are now venting outrage on social media, with some even calling for his firing. But recently, a single tweet from his confidant broke out, signaling everyone that Deion Sanders doesn’t give up in the middle of the season.

With the noise in Boulder becoming louder than it ever was, the same fan following that used to yell, “We comin’,” has now become frustrated. Fans are openly debating whether Deion Sanders’ greatest strength, loyalty that has turned into his greatest weakness. Offensive coordinator Pat Shumur and defensive coordinator Robert Livingstone are both on the hot seat. One fan on X stated it up clearly, saying Sanders has to “fire them with love.” But not everybody agrees with this opinion.
Boogie Knight, also known as “Boog,” who has mentored Shedeur Sanders since his fifth grade, explained Coach Prime’s philosophy. “You don’t turn on your people, you figure it out witcho people.” Time and time again, Boog, who also represents the Browns’ backup, Shedeur, has often defended Deion Sanders. In fact, even the Buffs HC faced all the questions from the media alone after the Arizona defeat.

He prevented any of his players or assistant coaches from interacting with the media. That decision sparked even more backlash. “No one will be available tonight,” he said firmly. “It’s on me. Don’t attack the coordinators. Come at me. Don’t attack the players. Come at me.” That sounds like a man who is literally shielding his people and taking all the bullets alone. But to some, it felt like a wall that left reporters and fans looking for unanswered questions.
Still, Sanders remains defiantly confident. He made no excuses when asked what went wrong. “If I knew, I wouldn’t have allowed it to happen. It’s on me,” he admitted. Then, in typical Prime form, he repeated, “I don’t doubt me. Let’s get that straight. I. Don’t. Doubt. Me.” The paradox of Coach Prime is that, despite everyone’s belief that the Colorado chapter is done, he refuses to give up.

Maybe it’s not about betraying people in the middle of the season, as his confidant said. Maybe it’s about working things out with your folks, even when reality hits hard and the fairytale fades.

Shedeur Sanders’ emotional return offers Deion hope
This Saturday, Shedeur Sanders decided to return home as the Cleveland Browns hit their bye week, telling his dad, “I know you need your son.” That visit meant more to a dad who has been dealing with health issues off the field as well as back-to-back defeats on the field. The two were spotted inside Folsom Stadium, sharing jokes and quiet moments. That was an escape from the drama that has recently enveloped Deion Sanders.
A father getting a moment of peace with his son when he needed it most. But that visit came with a purpose. Deion had laid out a strategy for Shedeur’s recovery. During the visit, the Browns quarterback, who has been dealing with a back injury, went into rehab mode. The Colorado training crew was shocked when Shedeur asked for a 20-minute underwater treadmill run in a video released by Well Off Media. Most athletes tap out at five.
Shedeur persevered through every repetition like a man on a mission, whether it was underwater sprints or weighted plate lifts with his brother Deion Jr. He’s bringing to the NFL the same drive that once electrified Boulder. But on Saturday, any faint hope was crushed by Colorado’s 52-17 defeat against Arizona. Deion Sanders, who once made the Buffaloes a must-watch on TV, is now looking for answers in Boulder.
The defense was struggling, the offense was lifeless, and the team went flat. The moments of love and hope between a father and his son were the only highlights of the weekend. Because when the losses mount up and the fairytale fades, Coach Prime’s simple, genuine moments remind everyone why he still feels he’s “built for this.”
